    Hi, Gang--

When we were at Lowe's earlier today at Dulles Crossing Plaza (by the Sam's Club and Sterling Wal-mart) shopping, we saw that apparently the Sterling Sam's Club is finally getting their fuel center (gas station)! Also, it looked like the Sterling Wal-mart was starting the process of converting over to a Wal-mart Supercenter at the empty land space between Sam's Club and the Wal-mart store.

Sometimes when the older Wal-marts are converted over to Supercenters, in the general area another NEW Wal-mart Supercenter is often soon to be built. For instance the Arcola Town Center's Wal-mart Supercenter that is slated to open later this year in 2009.

We were recently in the Front Royal, VA area and stopped in at their NEW Wal-mart Supercenter. It has a drive-thru pharmacy and its newest floorplan is over 200,000 square feet. This is the identical plan what Arcola is planning for. If you are up near Front Royal, stop in at the store off I-66 West exit. Beautiful store with a Cracker Barrel which is new and other stores.

I asked one of the store managers if the Arcola Wal-mart Supercenter was still on target to open in Loudoun County at the end of 2009. She said "yes"; and that the conversion to a Supercenter for the Wal-mart in Sterling would also occur. Also, she mentioned the Sam's Club adding its fuel center now.

    We shall see--

    Hi, Gang--

Just wanted to give "y'all" an UPDATE of the Wal-mart Supercenter in Sterling, VA conversion and the Sam's Club Fuel Center in Sterling. I talked to both store managers today while shopping; and they both told me that the conversion for the Wal-mart Supercenter will be finished and completely remodeled/refurbished by September 2009.

As far as the Sam's Club Fuel Center in Sterling, VA, the gas station will be opened in Spring 2009. So for all of you Wal-mart fans and Sam's Club members, you have it for "one-stop" shopping!

The store manager at Wal-mart told me that they will have a drive-thru Pharmacy window, a huge Food Center/Grocery Store, and they are building out from the sides, front, and back sides of the "old" Wal-mart. Apparently, the NEW Wal-mart Supercenter will be the LARGEST (LARGER THAN THE DULLES LANDING NEW ARCOLA CENTER WAL-MART SUPERCENTER OPENING LATER THIS YEAR--3RD OR 4TH QUARTER OF 2009!). Probably the Sterling Wal-mart Supercenter will be 210,000 to 220,000 square feet--more than the 205,000 square feet store at Arcola Town Center!

Also, the Wal-mart stores (regular and Supercenter stores) will allow for you to use Competitors coupons, Internet coupons, Manufacturers coupons, Drugstore and other Grocery Store coupons (i.e. Safeway, CVS Pharmacy, etc. coupons from their flyers and ads), and also will PRICE MATCH PRICES FROM Wal-mart's competitors! Just bring in PROOF OF ADS WITH PRODUCTS that you are buying (i.e. Best Buys, Radio Shack, and other stores).

More money-savings ideas for you coupon clippers!

I saw this weekend the construction there as we went to Sam's Club for our monthly visit. That will be very nice to finally have a Wal-Mart Supercenter. We always go to them when we travel and are visiting relatives and have wanted one near us for years. Especially now with SFW closing that will give us another option for those large grocery trips. It will be nice too to have a second entrance to the Wal-Mart and hopefully an expanded checkout area like most Super WM's have. We will probably frequent the Arcola/Dulles Landing one as often, but do spend a lot of time in the Dulles area with lots of soccer games at the Sportsplex, the DTC and visiting the restaurants over that direction.

It will be nice to have the option of a Super Target at the Arcola Center as well, and one eventually one in Moorefield Station (although I can definitely wait on that to be developed to limit the traffic along LCP).

    This is great!

Why they didn't originally build that location as a Supercenter is a mystery to me. Better prices on food then most of these over priced markets here. I also hope they make it a 24 Hour Super Center like everywhere else.

Yes, I believe from what the manager told me on the phone, that it will be a 24 hour Wal-mart Supercenter as well as the Arcola Wal-mart Supercenter. The reason that Loudoun County did not approve for the original footprint of the Sterling Wal-mart Neighborhood store to be a Supercenter was the former BOS, I believe, which what I heard from some Loudoun County Government employees "in the know".

They opted to build a Super Target in Leesburg because of its "high profile" reputation for goods, services, and customer service. Of course, Wal-mart officials met opposition over 10 years when the Sterling location was built. That is why the space is left between Sam's Club and Wal-mart for expansion for the Food Center and other building projects.

Remember that Wal-mart stores (Supercenters and other stores) will MATCH COMPETITORS PRICES, COUPONS, ETC. with PROOF OF ADS. Just see management or customer service representatives. Also, be sure to check out Hot Coupon World's website for a database of the Wal-mart's prices, etc.

There are some organizations challenging Walmart's health care claims. There is, of course, two sides to every issue... each with its own biases.

Never having worked for Walmart, I have no first-hand knowledge of what their health care plan covers or does not cover.

almost every story you'll find on this topic is dated and references the same 2006 stats. It's all old info

    :happygrin:Ozgood and others--

On his way home from NG today, my hubby stopped in at the Sterling Wal-mart's automotive center to buy a new car battery, and asked the store manager when the opening date of the remodeled/refurbished Wal-mart Supercenter would be. The store manager told him September 26, 2009.

My husband had a competitor's coupon from Advanced Auto Parts for 10% off--so he was able to apply the coupon to the car battery that he purchased today. Don't forget that Wal-mart will accept competitors coupons, manufacturers coupons, and "price match" other grocers--all foods and beverage products, paper goods, etc.--and other stores (i.e. drugstores, "big box" stores, office supply stores, etc. for all products with proof of ads)! This also includes DVD(s), CD(s), electronics, TV(s), etc. So instead of paying $75 for a car battery--he paid around $65 to $70.:happygrin:

    See "y'all"--

Accepting coupons from your competition is a wonderful marketing scheme.

    1. Not only are you saving money by not having to pay to publish your own coupons
    2. You are leaching off your competition's decision to spend THEIR money publishing their own coupons
    3. And, of course, you are taking business away from your competition.

I am actually surprised that more companies are not accepting the coupons published by their competition. Seems like a win win situtation. :)

Well then, since the information on their website is in direct contradiction to what the company you work for is fighting hard about, should be pretty simple case for you all

Then you should read the links again.. because you are wrong all three times you've tried so far

Proven wrong - they do offer health, vision, dental and other plans for both workers and their families

Then you tried saying they had plans (contrary to your earlier post) but that WalMart didn't pay for any of it
Also proven wrong. Walmart has matching and other benefits to help pay for the programs.

Then read again. They do offer benefits for paying for health care. Is it free? No, but nor is most health care.

You started out trying to demonize them by spreading misinformation. Information that has been proven wrong repeatedly. So.. stop with the misinformation.
