I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and need to urgently switch from my current OB/GYN (Loudoun OB/GYN). Can anyone reccommend a friendly, caring, preferably female OB in the local community?

I definitely DO NOT recommend Loudoun OB/GYN. I would prefer to deliver in Lansdowne. Does anyone have experiences with the Birthing Inn at Lansdowne?

I will also be needing a good Pediatrician if you also have recommendations.

    Thanks,

I've heard really good things about these folks:
    Women's Physicians of No. VA
    (Ashburn Village)
    44110 Ashburn Shop. Plz
    Ashburn, VA 20147
    (703) 724-0090

    Haven't used them myself, though.

And I really, really like Ashburn Pediatrics. They've been great and have Saturday sick child hours.

I had my youngest at the Birthing Inn at Lansdowne, and it was a great experience. That was almost 9 years ago, though!

I used to go to Perfectly Female for my last pregnancy and was very happy with them. However, I have noticed most of the doctors now are different ones than two years ago. I am in need of a new GYN if anyone can recommend anyone at Perfectly Female or elsewhere I'd greatly appreciate it!

I used Dr. Ivey-Crowe at Women Physicians of Northern Va (WPNV) http://www.womenphysicians.org/ over in Ashburn Village. They deliver at Reston. She was awesome. This staff can sometimes be a pain, but I stay because I love Dr. Ivey-Crowe.

We use Ashburn Pediatrics too. I was in there today and they had a sign up that they were accepting new patients since they got a couple of new doctors in the practice. I really like the walk-in hours in the mornings.

When I was looking and researching for a GYN I heard great things about Loudoun Community Midwives, which is right across from Loudoun Hospital. I've been there a couple of times for my annual and been happy with their service and slightly more holistic approach. I think it's all women, too.

I've used Loudoun Physicians for Women for the past five years. They saw me through the loss of a child and a live birth - both at Loudoun Hospital (Birthing Inn for the live birth three years ago). I've seen Drs. Brown, Allen and Wever and would give all high marks. My last pregnancy was high risk and required visits to multiple specialists as well as monitoring at the Birthing Inn for the last four months on a weekly visit. There were no reservations from anyone to make those referrals. Their offices are in Leesburg and Sterling.

They didn't deliver my babies (which were born in MA, not here!) but I like them as a GYN practice. I see Dr. Ivey-Crow. Also, we use Capital Area pediatrics. Used to go to Ashburn Village which was fine, but moved to the Ryan Park office when it opened.

I was not happy with Women's Physician of NOVA in Ashburn, plus they had me deliver my daughter (2005) at Reston Hospital . I recommend Dr. G. Neil Foster (if you dont' mind a male dr.) .. He's at the hospital (Loudoun Hospital/Inova) near the Birthing Inn; Dr. Foster, nurse Shannon and receptionist Neise are so nice and listens to every concerns you might have. He delivered my son in June 2008.... My neighbor (who since moved) recommended him to me and I have been very pleased with him...He has pictures of every family/baby he's delivered throughout his office
His number is Foster, G. Neil, MD 44055 Riverside Pkwy.
    Suite 238
    Leesburg, VA 20176
    (703) 858-3070

Edit to say: Oooops sorry, I just now saw that you said Female OB..... but if you change your mind, Dr. Foster is great....

One of my good friends just delivered at the Birthing Inn yesterday. It's a wonderful place. I will also be delivering there in Oct! My OB/GYN is Dr. Bess. She's so great- check out her website: http://www.womenscenterofloudoun.com/index.htm

I agree! Dr. Bess is wonderful. She always has time to answer questions and address concerns. There was never a sense of "clinic" or of being rushed. You should give her a try!

We like Ashburn Pediatrics as well, they are pretty good...but they are getting soo busy and the office can be incredibly full as you wait for a doc. We keep going though, because we like the doctors and nurses.

As far as OB/GYN, I love the doctors at Loudoun OB/GYN, but clearly that's not so in your case. The only other experience I have with OB/GYNs is with Women's Physicians and they were terrible. I felt like another just another "belly" to them. I left them when I was 7 mths pregnant and went to Loudoun OB/GYN (they delivered all four of my children).

We use Ashburn Pediatrics for our kids. The doctors are terrific, but they are soooo crowded now. But, like Inverness, we keep going because we like the doctors.

Definitely Dr. Bess. We interviewed a few doctors in the area before we decided on her. She makes you feel so comfortable and it doesn't feel like a factory in her office of people in people out. I delivered at the Birthing Inn and it couldn't have been a better experience. We are getting ready to move to Frederick, MD and when I have more kids I will definitely keep coming to Dr. Bess and deliver at the Birthing Inn.
