Sometimes I feel like a nut; sometimes I don't. I like them both!

It will be nice to have a real DD store. Up in New England there seems to be a DD every six blocks; I think it might be a law.

Heading South is a different matter. I get so torqued when I'm lured off an interstate by a DD sign only to find it leads me to a gas station with a few DD products. Many of them don't even care about keeping the coffee in the carafes fresh. That's not the DD way!

I drove by last night (9PM), and the lights were on. I almost crashed the car due to my state of shock and disbelief... Although the lights were on, they weren't open or looking quite ready for business yet. What's the over/ under on 1 more week?

Try the coffee at the Southern Walk McDonald's...it's not bad. That free coffee promotion they ran in February had me going there every day...now I pick up a cup every now and then when I get lazy and forget to set the home brew the night before.

Yes please provide more info on Starbucks closing!!! It was within walking distance from my house... I do agree there are many around. I also heard that Starbucks was closing some of their stores but didn't know it was one so close to us...

I spoke to some of the employees at the SW Starbucks this morning and they said they were due to close but there still might be some hope of them staying open. So if you like that Starbucks and have the money, spend it at the SW Starbucks!

the starbucks employees said they haven't been given a date to close yet. They said the earliest they think they would close is 6 weeks.

I picked up the card of the District Manager and sent him an email. Of all the Starbucks on this side of Ashburn - the SW one has the best overall setup. All the others are small inside. Im not one to sit in a Starbucks generally - but if I do I prefer this one so that I can not be sitting on top of the person next to me.

    Back on topic...

There's now a "Dunkin Donuts Coming Soon" banner displayed. We're getting closer (maybe)!

my sister and i worked at a dunkin donuts when we were teenagers and it was really fun. we had to change the donuts a few times a day, and pretty much throw them away. so my mom would come pick up trash bags full of donuts and bring them to martha's table in dc, or we would call our friends and they would skateboard around the parking lot out back like vultures- we would prop the door open and just peg donuts at them . or...and this was the best- we would just take a bite out of every french crueller, blueberry, boston creme, jelly filled, lemon, chocolate, EVERYTHING as we were throwing them away. into the dumpsters they then went! oh to have a 17 year old's metabolism again!!!
they have the best croissant sandwiches!!!!

I can understand and appreciate the need for DD to replace their stock. The throwing away of good food just seems bad.

So happy that your mother helped out like that.

I once dropped in at Vie de France in the Plaza America in Reston, near closing. Apparently all their stuffed croissants with cheese, ham, and other savouries were to be thrown out at closing. I don't know if it was a question about the safe quality of the stuffings...but it's a shame to think all those lovely treats hittng landfill.

Also I know that Panera Bread down by the SuperG does donate their bread at the end of the day.

If someone is collecting donations, maybe they could tap Vie de France.
