are there any twitter style type alerts that can be put into place to tell you when a particular pool has been closed for a mechanical or hygenic or any reason so you don't have to dress up and disappoint the kiddies this year?

    Re: Pool Passes Recovered

Hmmmmmmmm! I smell a cool project for the Tech Committee!!! We're going to be testing out our new Flicks in the Sticks screen over the next week, so I'll bring the idea up with the team and see what they think. I'll have a chat with Staci as well; I don't think this would be hard to do at all. Hardest part would be making sure timely information is posted to it...

    Thanks for the idea!

We are still getting things worked out.. but check out the new box on this page :)

    http://www.broadlandshoa.org/hoaforum/forumdisplay.php?f=11

Right now you'll see updates there and we'll work on where else they should be as well (like the Pool page on the main website). You can follow bhoapools on twitter (link on the above page).

The users aren't tweeters right now, so still need to get sorted out who will be doing all the updates.. but that should not be too hard.

The good news is they already do the updating.. it's just not done online. The theory is to replace the 'phone calls' with tweets. Then the tweets do both the updating of the websites AND the HOA management.

Instead of adding a another thing to do.. we simply replace the one thing they already do. Then it should be more reliable.

Getting closings will be easy... getting any opening updates will be harder :)

But it is also on the forums. See the top of the Broadlands community issues. This way it will be updating both the forum, website and any followers all at the same time. And hopefully soon under the Broadlands pool info as well.

Brassy, that's the point; folks like you who don't have a need to 'tweet' won't need to! We're building 'interfaces' from Twitter to the forums and to the front page of the website. For folks like you, you'll just look at the front page or in a particular forum; no need to be a twitter!

This is great to have it on twitter! Easier to check on my iphone than the forums before I grease the kids up with sunscreen and head over to the pool. Thanks!

luckily you are in HERE for as much of the day as I am :p so you don't need a twitter update.

that said- again- twitter gets a bad rap because sure- lots of ppl just chit chat and post blabber, but for a biz that has updatable, time sensitive info- it's QUITE useful.

there are plenty of B'landers on twitter who don't even know THIS board exists, or HATE the message board format and/or drama and wouldn't dream of coming in here. THAT'S who the tweets will benefit.

I like the updates on top of the forums... but... just wondering if there a way to "retire" old posts? some of these are 8 days old (as of today).

It is set up so the 5 most recent posts are displayed. When we go through a period of nothing you will see old posts but those will disappear if we get the thunderstorms they are calling for tonight. The part I like about having the old posts is you can see how long it has been since anything has happened at the pools
