I noticed an increased police presence in the hood. One of those side benefits.

Big Shoutout to the Dunkin Donuts! I was impressed. We went to the the movies Saturday night and promised the kids ice cream. Unfortunately, every place by the theater was closed. We stopped by to see if the DD/BR was open. Well, they techinically weren't but when they saw some really sad kid faces in the window they let them in and gave out cones. They are in it for the right reason!! They really seem to care. The next morning my son woke me up to go get Donuts. DD was crowded, but they all had smiles on their face. Excellent Customer Service! Rarely do I get service with a smile.

That's a bummer for me. The only donuts I do like to eat are the peanut ones.

Whenever I travel back to WNY - they make the BEST peanut covered donuts in the local bakeries up there....YUM!!!!!! I can smell them now. They're called peanut stick donuts.

If you like peanut donuts I suggest the Fractured Prune on Loudoun County Parkway between 50 and 267. It's not an everyday kind of donut shop like DD, but it is an awesome treat.

For those not in the 'know' the Fractured Prune is a donut shop based on the principal of Stone Cold Creamery and Maggie Moo's. They make FRESH to order cake donuts and then you pick one of about 20 topping combos or pick and choose whatever toppings you want.

These are the BEST donuts I have ever had and are more like special occasion treats as they are more like desserts than donuts.

I haven't been there yet. I rarely find myself on that stretch of road.
You just may have given me a reason to head out there!

As one of the naysayers who felt like DD was never going to open and was very suspect of the owners, I'm glad I was wrong!

The staff is very eager and kind. The coffee? Nectar of the Gods! :D

FYI---GREAT NEIGHBORS as well. They have agreed to donate all the donuts and coffee for the Piranhas home swim meets! So if you need yet another reason to visit, stop by and say "thanks" for being a great new neighbor! And be sure to stop on by and eat a donut while you see some excellent swimming!

better walk- that parking lot will be PACKED! bring your patience and good humor- they are doing a wonderful job and have been steadily busy, so expect a line and enjoy chatting with neighbors in it! i met a nice lady from Brooklyn last time i was there- she got the sour cream and onion donut!!! i'm afraid to ask how it was... i don't need to tap the "donut vein" EVER again.

Sent my husband this morning for coffee, his observation - 'we need to bulid a parking structure over at the DD' :) Just kidding but he said it was definitely busy. Noticed lots of people drinking their coffees with a big smile on their faces. Suddenly, Broadlands is a happier place! :)

As with pretty much every place that opens around here, the newness will eventually wear off and lines will certainly not be what are they are now.

I was amongst the masses making the pilgrimage this morning. Parking was overflowing, two long lines inside.... but it all ran very smoothly and quickly even though some of the folks were still in training. It was awesomeness.

Any word on anything going in next door yet? I really wish Puccio's would come back there.
