has anyone used the kid's club/play area at wegmans? my daughter was fine with the answer "it is for bigger kids" until a cashier said, "you have to be 3 to go there while mommy shops" - well, that was the week she turned 3 of course! I haven't been with her since, I do all my shopping while she is at preschool, but I know she will remember. Wanted to get some feedback on what people think about it first! thanks!

When I can't shop before I pick up the kids from school, I ALWAYS drop them off in the Kids Club. I like it, and they like it too. They can't wait to go in and sometimes I can't get them to leave. A long time ago they had a jungle gym that my son really liked but apparently it broke and the company went out of business so it was never replaced. In any case, it makes for a relaxing shopping trip. They do page you to come take the kids to the bathroom so make sure you do that before you drop them off.

My daughter likes the play area but we don't use it every time we go. They offer coloring and things like that but I usually find my child in front of the TV. :rolleyes3:

Do make a point of washing your child's hands afterward so they don't bring home a lot of fun germs.

We use it and my kids enjoy it. One of the gals who works there also works at a preschool, and another one I know personally because she goes to my church, so I really like that... makes me very comfortable.

The biggest issue I have with Wegman's is it's a pain to get in and out of there (both the traffic/parking lot and then once you get inside the store). I went there last night at 7 PM (Sunday evening) and all but one of their 20 plus registers were open with at least three shoppers in each line with full carts waiting to check out. I had about 5 items and took me 15 minutes to get through the checkout. I don't find the people there overly friendly (workers or shoppers) and the aisles are so tight there are constantly traffic jams at so many of the intersections of aisles. I feel like I'm driving to work going in there. For those of you that shop there often when are the best times during the week to go for those that can't get there during normal work hours?

Saturday morning - before 10.00 AM is good, same for Sunday.

Weekdays - if you can grab a late lunch hour, although the deli areas may be busy the grocery aisles tend not to be so hectic.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights after 7 PM are quite light.
Friday through Sunday are very busy.
If you only have a few items head for registers 20-25 (seven items or fewer). If those have lines, go over to the registers in the Cafe area.

I've never seen none of the express lanes open.

Regarding getting in/out.. you just need to avoid the crowd. Don't go down the front of the store. Drive past the first entrance, goto the 4 way stop, and drive to the far end of the lot. Park right up front, and walk in by the Pharmacy. When time to leave, don't turn left after checking out, go right, and go out the door where parcel pickup is.

When leaving.. do the same thing.. don't go down the front of the store - go instead on the main cross road of the shopping center.

You still have the light to deal with at Waxpool - but since doing this pattern I enjoy Wegmans and its routinely 20-30% less expensive then HT or Giant.

I never have problems with crowds anymore except at the Waxpool light. That you can't ignore depending on time of day.

My opinion about the in/out issue there is that they need to make the right hand lane of the road that goes between Target and Wegmans only and same for exiting from Wegmans onto that road. People sit there for ever trying to pull out and it is such blind spot that when they try to pull out to either go left or straight into Target it is always near misses.

So, I wonder if the Leesburg store will be quicker to get to when it opens in November?

I'm guessing that once the Broadlands Blvd-Belmont Ridge intersection is done, it might be quicker to zip down Belmont Ridge to 7 West. Plus, there is a real interchange for that shopping center.

It would be nice if there were a back entrance one could use coming from the east.

Goto the 4 way stop sign in the shopping center and all your traffic woes disappear... except the light on Waxpool.

I wonder if there will be access from Sycolin. Will Crosstrail Blvd. hook up with Sycolin?

That USED to be true. Yesterday I was exiting that way and two cars were coming from the side entrance/exit and making U-turns at the stop sign. It sort of slows down the flow there but I'm sure those drivers think they have the system beat.
