All I can say is that this should have been in our community. Everybody should observe how small business (i.e. Restaurants, etc...) thrive around this new hospital site.....and struggle with no lunch crowd around ours.

Those who stopped the hospital should be ashamed... and when we end up with vacant low end office space - I do not expect to see a single NIMBY complain

All I can say is that we had to go to INOVA in Landsdowne a few nights ago, and they lacked some basic equipment that caused us to be there for hours........ Secondly, we struggle to find children specialists in our community (end up going to Fairfax) - in the end though.... there was no need for a hospital right?

Good point Cliff. Also, it will be interesting to see how Lori Waters finds fault with the Rt 50 site. I am certain she will, being how close she is with Inova.

"...ashamed..." just because it din't turn out the way you (and others) may have wanted, there are plenty of people that are very glad it turned out the way it did. Why should people be ashamed? There are always winners and losers and this time the no to Broadlands Hospital crowd won.

I thought they (HCA) had "no plans to build a hospital on Rt. 50" wow what a reversal of position in just over a month. This is an unbelievable reversal.

I think it is a huge loss for our neighborhood. I was against the hospital at first, as I live very close, but the pluses out weighed the minuses by far.

Just for the novelty, could we have a discussion, on this board, on this hospital issues without such language? Saying that some people should be ashamed is not the way to encourage calm logical discussion.

    Unbelievable? Really?

Let's say you're negotiating a price for a new car, and you want to get it for $20k but you're willing to pay $25k. How far do you think you'll get with the dealer if you tell him/her that you're willing to pay $25k?

You're unbelievably naive if you really think the reversal is unbelievable.

    Don't say I didn't tell you so...

Based on my own experiences. I'll always go to Reston Hospital Center.

I wonder if INOVA will fight this new plan. They say not, in the article... but I wonder how long that will last.

Re: Inova Lansdowne: I will say when I went there with serious flu symptoms after a trip to NYC during the whole H1N1 scare, I was processed and treated quite efficiently and professionally. I have also sat in their waiting room for hours with a laceration that healed itself while I was waiting in the waiting room for 3 hours.

Not sure why Inova would fight. They got what they wanted...no competition in Ashburn.

    Good point.
Meanwhile, the Broadlands RMC website is now gone... welcome to StoneSpring Medical Center.
    http://stonespringmedical.com/

Looks like it's going to be the same facility, just in the.... a different location.

Am I being too cynical to think that INOVA's next hospital will be built on or near the old BRMC site? :rolleyes3:

My guess would be because they don't want ANY additional competition. Period.

They don't want them at Rt50 either.

Remember, both own property at Rt50. INOVA has some small facilities there, and has already said they want to build, and has gotten the nod from the BOS if I recall. But HCA has got the COPN - which INOVA doesn't.

So now it's going to be a game of chicken I think.

I'm not quite sure how HCA can monetize this advantage, but I bet you they are playing that angle.

There's no issues that INOVA can hide behind like all the fuss about housing being too close or being too close to another hospital.

If INOVA oppose this new site then they're showing the public that it's really about the competition they're against.
