VERY true. restaraunts have a serious crap shoot on their hands around the holidays, that's why i am unwilling to second guess their decision to stay open without donuts, or not bring in more, or whatever. it was what it was.

it's not like this is plowing the STREETS or somethingclear cut and simple like THAT... SORRY STEVE!!! COULDN"T RESIST! DON'T HIT ME!!!! :fight2:

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree; and let's face it, we're talking about fried dough here and not the national economy :)

    Have a great week!

It is a shame we went there on Sunday - several days after CHRISTMAS and they were still out of Doughnuts... They did have muffins and eclairs , coffee of course their sandwiches which is why I guess they stayed open.. Several very disappointed people walked out just as quick as they walked in.... Along with at least 4 employees standing around behind the counter. I can see how they are loosing money.

this does not sound like a business that is making calculated profit margin decisions on whether to stock up before closing early. sounds like a business in serious management trouble.

The name of the store is Dunkin Donuts, not Dunkin Coffee, Dunkin Muffins, Dunkin Eclairs, or Dunkin Sandwiches.

Sorry, but you are going to lose my business if you consistently run out of the product upon which your business is founded and which is in the name of your company.

We have 2 DD's within 2 miles of our house. One of them is always out of donuts (and it is also a Baskin Robbins and frequently runs out of ice cream); the other one is consistently able to maintain a good supply of a variety of donuts. Which one do you think I give my business to? You can only walk out of a store so many times with disappointed kids before you decide not to go back.

I hope your DD figures this out. I moved out of the Broadlands over 4 years ago--and even then we were clamoring for a local DD--it would be a shame to have it fail so quickly after such a long wait.

FWIW - Shortly before the holiday (I think on or about Dec 21st), we bought several flat bread (ham & cheese) sandwiches and our entire family was sick or digestively challenged for 24-48 hours after eating the "food" for DD, that said we have not nor do we plan to ventured back to DD, ever.

It's one thing to sell stale donuts but another thing to sell a deli/food product that is spoiled.

Did you make a report with the Virginia Department of Health or better yet, The Loudoun County Health Department’s Environmental Health Urban Division?

I have been disappointed several times by the staff's lack of knowledge of their coffee menu. I've been asked several times, "What's that?" when ordering something directly off the menu in the drive-thru. Understandable when they first opened, inexcusable after several months in business.

I'll continue to go, because the price of the coffee and treats are so reasonable and the drive-thru is so convenient (vs. unloading several small children in and out of the car). But I certainly don't go as often.

I assume you are talking about Leesburg when you mention the second location. I'm told that Leesburg and Broadlands are owned and supplied by the same people running the Sterling store. How can the donut selection be so vastly different at these 2 locations? They need to figure this out in Broadlands... on site management also seems to be a revolving door. Maybe this contributes to the supply chain breakdown.

Where is Jimmy (AKA mij3000)? He hasn't posted here since October... I was hoping he could help explain what's going on. I'd hate to lose this place considering how long we waited and how good the products are when they are available... Jimmy, a few words?

Rubble099, Pats_Fan moved to Atlanta, GA not too long ago, so I think he's talking about Dunkin Donut shops closer to his place in GA, not in Broadlands.

Absolutely. Normally I wouldn't go to this level of effort, but the adverse affects caused by eating DD's flat bread was one of the worst cases of food poisoning we have ever had.

Exactly, thanks for the clarification. Just relaying my personal experiences with my local DD's. I no longer bother going to the one that is always out of donuts because of its unreliability.

    Gotcha!

To my earlier point though... how can Leesburg be so vastly superior to Broadlands if they are both supplied by Sterling?

I was told that when Broadlands opened, they were baking their own donuts. A few weeks later the bakers decided to strike and the owner canned them all, opting instead to have them baked off site. They later sold off/ transferred the equipment. Clearly something isn't working over there. There should always be AT LEAST a basic selection of donuts from the "express dozen". If you can't do that, why stay open?

I think that space was always available for lease, even though it looks like a donut shop threw up in there with all the restaurant equipment scattered about. :) I always wondered why they never blacked out the windows... most commercial spaces for lease do that the mask the mess within the vacant space.

This is really simple...I don't go to donut stores that don't have adequate donuts...period.

I have a family of 7 within walking distance of DD. My kids love donuts. Since DD is always out of the donuts that the kids want, we have given up on DD and now drive to Shoppers for donuts.

I am not sure who is running the business but they have moved off my list of places to even think about going to.
