Out of curiosity - has anyone ever placed an anonymous call to the LCSD to report something suspicious, and actually had it followed up on (to your knowledge)?

You people see suspicious things and report them ALL the time? What kind of things?

OMG! the SAME thing happened to ME! were they in hoodies and walking with POOR POSTURE!?!? :nono: criminals waiting to happen- just arrest them before it's too late, which is the same as while it's too early... lol

<this post is dripping with sarcasm for those who don't know me.>

in all seriousness- yes, i have called about suspicious activity- cars that appear to be casing the neighborhood and those vans that cart around kids selling fake magazine subscriptions.

they respond and take detailed reports and take the calls seriously, so i hope people don't unnecessarily waste their time without a REAL reason to be suspicious...

NOT saying that anyone here HAS or WOULD- just saying that there are those int his 'hood who think a group of teens walking together is a reason to call, and it is not. :)

They are good about responding but I've found that they are a bit more diligent if you ask the dispatcher to have the responding officer to call you to talk about the situation. They seem to be a little more responsive when you do that than when you call in an anonymous tip.

We, along with neighbors, watched a fellow neighbor completely modify his car over the course of several weeks to resemble that of an unmarked or undercover (however you want to say it, forgive my lack of knowledge on appropriate terminology for the car) police car.

    1) Changed the color of the car from white to black (actually using spray paint and then some sort of glossy overlay)
    2) Attached 2 antennae
    3) Attached a spot light on the driver's side view mirror
    4) Inserted what appeared to be a light on the dashboard
    5) If you're nosey enough to really look in the car - a large flash light is sitting in the cup holder.

I'm usually not one to make a fuss about what someone else is doing in their own life... I live by the motto – “to each their own.” But we have children, and everyone hears the stories about folks impersonating cops. The interesting thing is that this person actually made all of these modifications in plain sight. Albeit, he would duck down and completely stop whatever he was doing if a neighbor happened to be outside. Nonetheless, a group of folks were talking and wondering if it would be a good idea to place an anonymous call...

Forgot to mention that it "used" to be a white Crown Victoria. Now it's black... (after the color change)

Hey I think I saw that car it's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. Oh and the cigarette lighter needs to be fixed.

Like I said, a group of people were wondering if a call should be made... no one is interested in making a fuss about possibly nothing. I would hate for the individual to be inconvenienced just because...

that IS interesting behavior at the VERY least... is he the kind of neighbor you could approach and strike up a conversation that may give you some answers? I mean, without coming out and saying- "what the heck are you up to?"

Call if you're that concerned. What I don't get is the need for anonymity. Just tell the cops you don't want your name mentioned when they check it out. They'll honor that.

Funny – “what are you over there doing, and why are you acting so suspicious!” J

He’s actually a very friendly guy… he’s only started acting a little different since he started up with that car. Either way, I spoke with a neighbor this morning who said that his spouse did call over the weekend b/c she saw him messing with the light on his dashboard when they came home Friday night at around 1AM. He appeared to be “testing” it (turning it off and on) and it flashed red, causing her suspicion to go into overdrive. Long story short – the car is now gone… has been for 2 days, although the neighbor is home.
