To the 2 homeowners at the intersection of Vestals and Gentle Heights, that sidewalk in front of your homes is your responsibility. Everyone else shoveled theirs up to their property line. I thought perhaps you needed help. I was going to offer it. Then I saw your immaculate driveways and walkway to your front doors. I saw you shoveling this. You are healthy. But, you are a bad neighbor, you are inconsiderate of the safety of pedestrians, and you thumb your nose to ordinaces because nobody enforces them. May the bad karma you create loom over your homes.

Calling ALL bad dog-walkers (you know who you are), time to make amends!!!

Please walk all dogs on immaculate driveways at the corner of Vestals Gap and Gentle Heights.

Thank you for you community service!

The corner of Kitchen Prim and Glebe View also. The sidewalk hasn't been shoveled at all and it never is, in any storm. The bus stop is right there for all 3 schools.

Try contacting the county. They generally will send out a letter, threatening $250 fines for each day the sidewalk remains unshoveled. That usually gets a person's attention.

Walk up their immaculate walkway and leave a note on the door.

At the corner of Kitchen Prim & Glebe View, there are also always cars parked facing the wrong way down Glebe View. Those cars (who I believe belong to the people renting out the basement of the house on the corner) were not moved before the storm meaning that even if the plows chose to try and open up two lanes, they could not. Yeah - I'm bitter because my side of the street ends up with an extra five to six feet to shovel out to get to the plowed lane every time than the other side of the street, plus we also have the sidewalk to do which our neighbors on the other side don't have. Not that I begrudge the folks on the other side of the street but it is a lot of extra shoveling every time (especially the last two).

What about if you live on a TH street? We have no place to put the snow!

Thanks for your concern. The sidewalks will be cleared this weekend. Unfortunately due to a back injusry, I can not shovel for hours on end. As anf FYI, up to my door is also not finished as I needed to stop - so your observation about health is misguided.

Why is it that you simply did not mention something when you saw me ? Was calling the county really necessary ? An offer of help would have been much better.

During the last storm my sidewalk was cleared within 24 hours and many others up and down the street were not. I did not see your rant then.

No kidding. The shared snow-piles on our TH row top 5-6 feet and we have all sacrificed our sidewalks because there's no where else to pile the stuff. I'm 4' 11" and I can't express how difficult it is to heave a shovel-full of snow over my head to try and keep things clear.

I just went to the house at the corner of Kitchen Prim & Glebe View about their two unshoveled sidewalks and the berm where the kids wait for the school bus (all three schools).

The owner made multiple excuses including the husband working long hours, not having enough money to hire someone, the sidewalks are too long because they are on a corner, there's no point in shoveling because the cars throw the snow right back on the sidewalks and "maybe" she'll shovel some tomorrow. I suggested asking all of the neighbors to help out and she said that my husband could shovel the whole thing.

In a nutshell, don't expect anything to be shoveled in that area for Tuesday morning.

That's a lazy woman. I imagine she's perfectly capable of shoveling it herself. Seriously, I just shoveled out a path from the sidewalk through the 3 foot high, 4 foot wide snowbank on our corner. And I'm an overweight, out of shape, 41 year old woman, yo.

That was the only excuse I did not hear when I spoke to her - being physically incapable because of injury or disability.

I don't have any sympathy here. This one household is putting dozens of children at risk of serious injury through their inaction.

They also still have two cars parked in the street on Glebe View which means it's impossible to open the street up to two lanes.

There's a tractor with plow on it working on clearing the corners on Chickaocan so it looks like they are trying to clear paths for the kids for Tues. As far as the cars being parked in the roads I don't think they make any difference in them widening the road. We have no cars in the road by us and they haven't made it any wider than when they originally plowed it.

I have to say a huge THANK YOU to the wonderful neighbor on Oatyer!!!! Who not only did the sidewalk on Oatyer but also a huge portion of Tithables (until he hit where others had already dug).

Go take another look. They cleared the sidewalk on the Kitchen Prim side - all the way from one side of the concrete to the other.

On the Glebe View side, they completely ignored the sidewalk, digging a path IN THE STREET, right next to those two cars. At one point, it's only about 6 inches wide. It's not passable without actually banging into those cars (at least for me with my wide backside).

The actual sidewalk is still completely snow covered on that side and it is not acceptable to have kids have to walk IN THE STREET.

What happens if they decide to actually move those cars or clear out the snow? The sidewalk still has snow on it.

Do you want to go bang on their door or have me go do it again? I guarantee it will not be pleasant if I have to go back there again. I was nice this time...

I live on Ridgeway by Stone Hollow and I don't think anyone has cleared their sidewalks. It will be interesting to see how Tuesday morning goes because if no one shovels, all the children will either be standing in the middle of the street to get their school bus or walking down the street to get to school.

Those letters from the county are great motivators!
