There was a SUV parked at the Brambleton movie theater this weekend in a full body graphics wrap advertisement for a church (IIRC) and on the back it said the world was ending in 2011; forget the actual day listed.

I thought it was Dec 21, 2012 according to a few ancient calendars but then maybe modern tech has been able to better identify the date.

Back to the drivers doing good or bad things on the road, I'm just curious about the complete absence of turn signal use. I know car inspections make sure they're functional. It's SO frustrating to see people drifting from lane to lane with no signal or advanced warning.

I recognize when a driver have one hand on the phone and the other on the coffee or cigarette, it's hard to turn on that signal, but really? Do police still ticket for not using signals, or do they just not care anymore?

Because when you use a turn signal, and try to change lanes according to VA law, the SUV soccer mom in that lane, on her cell phone, messing with her brood in the back seat and adjusting her navigation device will speed up to make sure you cant get over.

Dont you know driving is now survival of the fittest?

True, but they still are not as bad as the drivers in California...yet

When I've used the W&OD trail in the Falls Church area cyclists usually say "On your left" as they are about to pass you (on your left). It seemed to be the accepted practice when passing pedestrians and other cyclists. Not everyone did it but most did. That way you get a bit of a warning.

As far as bicycle crossing along Belmont Ridge and Ashburn Road, if the cyclist has a stop sign then they have to stop until the main road is clear.

My home backs up to Crosen Lane. I am getting sick of moron kids speeding as fast as they can up and down that stretch of road. I think I might go to the county and ask for a speed hump to get added. I hate those damn things but I hate these tools speeding by more.

I know what you're talking about, but Croson is going to be a 45mph 4 lane divided highway (TBD when all of it is finished, but that's the plan) and starting in Oct (?) will connect to Belmont Ridge, so you're not going to get a speed hump. Traffic is definitely going to increase. LCP has been notified many times over the past 7 years about the "racing" and they patrol Croson somewhat frequently (I see them pretty regularly around QP). Have you tried calling the non-emergency number to report the racing?

I've heard rumor that if you contact the Loudoun County Sheriff's NON Emergency number to complain about speeders on a street, they may actually come out and gun it. Especially if several neighbors call and complain.

I can't say that I've actually seen this happen.... but I have seen them gunning on Claiborne Pkwy in the past.

yes call the Non-Emergency # 703-777-1021 and report the drag racing. We back up to Claiborne and every time we have called they have sent a patrol car out...in some cases within a minute or two of our call.

We are off Truro and I will have to do that the next time I hear the super sport motorcycles go screaming up the road doing about 150 or more.

I called Sat after they went flying past the CC pool twice in about 20 min. They sent a cop right out.
