When you have two jobs and four kids to take care of I do not have time to read junk mail.

May be one day I move up from this neighborhood where Vendor (OpenBand), builder and HOA are trying to find way to take your money LEGALLY.

I see a few people parked the same way but their car never towed!!!

I do not like to call on anybody but I would if there is a car blocking access to my house or it is accident hazard.

I hope HOA will revise this rule of towing cars that double parked in front of garage. there are two options

1 - Give the car owner one warning then if the same violation is repeated their car can be towed.
2 - Do not tow any car parked in front of houses but give a ticket to car/house owner instead of towing the car which create a lot of problem to people the least of them is disrupt the life of the family. the purpose is to make people stop repeating the same violation not humiliate them for violating parking rules. it is only parking violation take it easy on people.

After I got my car towed I make sure that all my neighbors are aware of this new towing rule. it is amazing 99% of them are not aware of such rule!!!

I live on the same street as the original poster, and he does live at the end of the street, so no one's walk way was being impeded except his own. And while I understand that the law is the law, we have more problems on our street with people parking in the street in front of their drive way, making it almost impossible to back out of my own driveway. Since their side of the street is not marked as a fire lane, it's not illegal. Or the people that park right by the mail boxes making it difficult to get in and out of Windy Oaks, but again, not a fire lane, so it is not illegal. Our mini van does not fit in our garage.....the garage is a foot too short, so we can not even park in our garage, and now I have to worry about whether or not my bumper is impeding slightly onto the side walk......

Junk Mail? Well it cost you $150... I wouldn't call it junk mail.

If you like complaining about the neighborhood so much maybe it would help to actually pull your head out and look at what is happening in the neighborhood?

Sorry - zero sympathy for those who intentionally AVOID the information being given to them for their own benefit.

But hey - it's just junk mail to you...

Humiliate them? Who knew you were towed until you posted here? Self inflicted and now you cry victim?

As for your suggestions.. they've already been answered in this thread. It's not junk mail.. you should read it.

I think you need to read that "junk mail" also known as your newsletter which is how the HOA communicates with the residents. You will see this is not what is being towed. You must be FULLLY blocking the sidewalk thus impeding the flow of pedestrian traffic to be towed. And for those of you that think it is no a danger just wait until your kids are forced to walk into the street to get past so called car and are almost hit. I am sure at that time you will not be worried about someone paying $150 but wondering why the HOA is not enforcing the rules to keep you and your kids safe.

Seems you have several issues with parking. Do you suppose there are other neighbors that have similar thoughts? Maybe even thoughts about those who block sidewalks?
    Just sayin ;)

I understand about the sidewalks.....I really do. I have kids who use the sidewalks, and who play with the neighbor children all up and down the street in front of our town houses, and I am conscious about not blocking the sidewalk. However, I think that the bigger safety hazards are not even "illegal", and thus are not getting towed.....like the cars parked in the street in front of their houses. I read all the "junk mail" cover to cover, and knew exactly when the towing ban went into effect.

There is no rule that I've seen about parking in front of a garage. Or being double parked in front of a garage or in a line or side by side. There is one about parking illegally on a sidewalk.

And its a shame you have 4 kids to take care of, but don't care about the safety of anyone else's kids or you wouldn't have parked on the sidewalk to begin with. Others, even stated in this thread, are conscious about not blocking the sidewalk. I have kids myself, and I hate it when they have to go into the street to get around a car parked illegally which has happened more times than I care to count.

You said you were only sticking over the sidewalk a foot. In fairness, I think thats a little much and perhaps borderline for the towing company to tow you car. You should call them and get a copy of the photo they took.

The community newsletter is the legally accepted way that HOA management communicates changes in policies and rules to the association members. We are all busy, but we don't ignore correspondence from our kids' schools, our bank, our mortgage holders or our credit card companies. Please take 10 minutes once a month to glance through the newsletter for important announcements and to learn more about what is going on in the community.

400 ppl in the Broadlands have 2 jobs and 4 kids. it's safe to say most of us aren't sitting at home wishing we had MORE to do- we are ALL busy.

it's not junkmail- it's official notification of community events and announcements that ARE IMPORTANT to everyone who lives here. how do you propose the HOA notify you of rules and regs... since you are so busy you can't flip through the newsletter? follow you to soccer practice? accost you in line at Wegmans?

what an insult to those who work so hard to put together a fantastic publication that always keeps me and my family informed of what we need to know and want to know.

I don't live in Broadlands so maybe it isn't my place to comment but...

I appreciate the safety issues of children walking in the street. I also appreciate the safety issues of blocking sidewalks. Still, I'm surprised that this is considered such a major problem. I think the issues that are considered problems can be quite different from suburbia, to cities, to rural areas. I've lived places where cars blocked sidewalks all the time and where there weren't any sidewalks at all. I guess we have to have more rules when people live in close quarters.

Incidentally, I hope people's children are not playing in the same streets where cars are being towed due to blocking sidewalks and therefore endangering the safety of children.

I have enough mails to read every day I do not have a time to read anything else. We use to read Broadlands monthly magazine back to back but now we lost interest reading I do not know why. I think HOA should save money and just post the magazine online.

First what this kids is doing 0400 at the end of the street walking? FYI - My car was towed at night and my house is the end of the street. I have no problem if I violate any law I should pay for it. What I am saying in this case towing my car is little harsh. they could give me a $300 ticket and not take my car.

I did not write this thread to get your sympathy. I do not need it. I have survived worse than this. This is a picnic for me. I lived in place where sometimes you wake up and you find part of your neighborhood is gone. I prefer not talk about it. it is more than inconvenient and unnecessary hassle. Thanks for writing back.

Good for you, you let your kids play night time between midnight and 0400 AM. Is this an abuse of children to deprive them from sleep!!!
