I apologize if I offend anyone I do not mean to call our news letter a junk mail. As I said I used to read back to back just life is getting harder and harder and I do not have time to read anything else. I have a box of mail that I have to process every month.

You did violate the law, and as such, the penalty was getting your car towed. There was MUCH discussion about towing before the rule was passed. It was discussed at multiple Board meetings open to the public, announced in multiple newsletters and discussed on these forums. Residents had multiple opportunities to have their voices heard, and in fact, many did. I don't recall anyone communicating to the Board that a hefty fine would be preferable to getting their car towed.

Additionally, the HOA has enough issues getting some residents to pay their monthly dues, including fines. I don't believe the Association should spend other residents monthly dues trying to collect $300 fines from residents who fail to obey the law, and fail to read official communications informing them of such rules.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but the whole situation was in your control. The fact you live at the end of a street is irrelevant. When we implement rules, it would be senseless to start applying multiple exceptions for certain conditions. You either implement the rule equally across all residents or you don't.

Now you know the rule and I'm sure you'll think twice in the future before blocking the sidewalk with one of your vehicles. I say we scratch this one up as a learning experience and move on. If you feel strongly that the towing guidelines are excessive, I urge you to come to our next Board meeting and voice your concerns directly to the Board.

That's fine and it's your decision to prioritize and decide what you consider important communication and what is not. But to then come on the forums and state that the towing guidelines were never communicated to you or anyone you know is a tad extreme. They were communicated to all residents; the fact you did not ever see them was YOUR fault, not the HOA's.

I did go to last meeting and expressed my concerns directly to the Board and their answer was " We are just enforcing County laws!" I think they brush me off with this answer and I can see they have a bigger issues regarding OpenBand. I do not want to press to much about it for two reasons first I want them to focus more on OpenBand issue which is very important to me, second I know I am not going repeat the same mistake hoping I will move away from Broadlands as soon as I could. when I told my coworker what happened to me they asked me what kind of neighborhood is that?

No, I don't, and last I checked the law it doesn't say you can break it during certain hours which you seem to think is just fine to do. And between midnight and 4am sure is an odd time to clean out your garage but whatever.

Yes I take a full responsibility for not reading towing guidelines and for having my car one foot on side walk. Now my wife always remind me to make sure our van is not one inch out in side walk. I do not want to argue about it at towing company lot.

The Broadlands HOA has absolutely nothing to do with the Openband contract/agreement. That's what the Southern Walk HOA handles.

I'm sorry you feel such negativity towards Broadlands and want to leave. That's your decision and I can respect that. I hope you find a community that can better serve your needs and expectations in the future.

Please PM me your address and I'll take a look at the pictures that the towing company takes prior to towing all vehicles. You've stated multiple times that you were only 'one foot on the sidewalk'; I would like to see the pictures to confirm this if you don't mind.

Please contact me via a PM so I can look into this. Thanks.

Life is full of surprises, you will see one day, and do not get surprised if you loose control of you life. Imagine if you have a policeman following everywhere you go and he will not hesitate to give you a ticket every time you pass the speed limit!!! then tell me the law is the law, you cannot break it.

I'd like to see this as well, after being outside washing the van today and looking at the sidewalk 1 foot is a little extreme for a 4ft sidewalk. If they towed from a 1ft infraction I'll be the first to sign a petition for you to get your money back.

You went to the SWHOA meeting. I remember you, you approached us as we were entering executive session, and at least 3 of us explained to you that we dealt exclusively with Openband and not parking or other Broadlands HOA issues. There did happen to be a person there who is also on the Broadlands HOA board, but since it was not a Broadlands HOA meeting, he offered you a quick explanation and I believe he suggested you attend one of their meetings. I'm sorry if you took that as brushing you off, we were just trying to point you in the right direction.

Now you are getting out of touch with reality, and are borderline trolling this discussion, so I'll drop out. I hope you get your money back for a 1ft infraction.

Thank you, the damage is done. $150 was the least thing that hurt me that day. I would considered as my contribution to the community. My family donate more than that every year to charities. Thank God for everything. I do not mind paying for my mistakes I do not mind paying $150 for cable/phone/Internet. But I do not like to be cheated.

Thank you for replying to me. My mistake I did not know that this meeting was only for OpenBand which is more important to me than the parking violation issue.

None of that money goes to the HOA. We don't use towing as a revenue stream.

At least two Board members (including myself) asked you to provide us with your address so we could look into your issue and pull the photos of your vehicle blocking the sidewalk. You saw both requests but have not contacted any of us. I find it a bit disingenuous for you to post your complaints on these forums and ask that rules be changed, but refuse to follow through when at least two members of the Board ask for your information to look into the issue.

There's not much we can do when a resident posts anonymously and refuses to communicate with the HOA when they try to reach out and help.

I'm considering your issue resolved until that time that you decide to let us help you.

Thank you and I appreciate the offer but that was not my point to prove me right or wrong or get my $150 back. I lost more than that in business because of the delay I have to wait to get my car. My point is to punish the offenders but not to be to the point that our community become like a military zone. HOA has to create the environment that all members of this community are enjoying, caring and loving this community. I love Broadlands area and I like to live here despite OpenBand issue. But I do not like to my car taken away from me when I really need and especially for non emergency and fire hazard violation. Give me a ticket but do not take my car. I am sure you are having few people paying back their dues but most people are paying their dues every month. So, make rules with the assumption that all people are good and they will pay on time and the exceptions for repeating offenders. Thanks for all your hard work

You won't share the info because you don't want to highlight your claims are most likely baseless.

Well the board members already know where you live (your neighbors posted the relative info) so all it will take is a passing through the recent photos to figure out which is yours and know the real situation.

You can't hide from the truth. You really just wanted to vent. Fine.. vent - but don't call out lies and then blame the world for YOUR choices or refuse to listen to why your 'suggestions' have already been covered.

You got priorities? Well I'm sure a $150 bill in your mailbox would make it a priority. Maybe in the future if you want to avoid losing business or paying to get your car back you might reconsider the current priorities you have.
