I did not realize that it was not the HOA site. I'm blushing  Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for enlightening me and I fully understand and have no beef with this at all. In fact, it all makes good logical sense here. Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me.

Redon is right.. Brambletonian is not HOA affiliated, however there is a Brambleton HOA site that is restricted to residents.

I dunno, if $150 is the best price you could find for someone to take a car to rt 28 & waxpool and you get none of that $150, I call that a bum deal.... maybe I should buy a wrecker and bid on next year's contract =) I say get a cheaper company and then pocket the difference and use it for more kids shows/concerts/etc/etc. :) I don't care if the HOA is making a bit of money on it as I always park legally and chances are the money will go to help provide more services.... the only people that will complain about HOA getting a percentage are the illegal parkers! Did you have any info on my other questions regarding if the towing company reports (monthly/weekly/per tow) to you (and us) every tow and how many other bids we got for the contract?

Again, I'm for the towing...but I kinda see your side too =)

Your HOA is considering it. I spoke to a Board member a few weeks ago.

We had at least 3 bidders for the contract.
We get frequent reports on tows. Not sure EXACTLY how often.

Is the towing most frequently done in the townhome areas? I'm guessing the driveways are shorter and I know parking is sometimes limited. When I lived in a townhome in the Village I didn't have a driveway but I can imagine how it could be difficult.

Regardless of the situation - HOA should/Must consider
-Warning letter with photos for the first offense as they currently do for other types of HOA violation

This is not a HOA violation. This is a Loudoun County parking violation.

HOA did this for years - and it did not work. Who remembers the hot pink stickers?

And as Maureen said - it's not a HOA violation, it's county ordinances (sidewalks) and state laws (fire lanes).

And discussions during the process did include if they should try to handle 'repeat' offenders differently.

So... I would say they already have 'should/must' consider that situation.

My husband and I are very pleased with the new HOA guidelines/towing contract. I lived in Arlington for many years and had to park on the street and I'm continually baffled why some of my neighbors would double park in a single car driveway or park in the street/fire lane instead of just parking 20-30 feet away in a parking lot.

...If the government decided to raise the tax rates, and you just decided to pay the rate you did the previous couple years instead of reading their 'junk mail' forms, would that not be your fault?

...If the bulbs in your font yard lamp went out and the HOA sent you a 'junk mail' reminders to replace them and later a fine, as outlined in the 'junk mail', would that not be your fault?

Sounds like you are just upset over breaking the law and being made an example of, but the fact is, you did break the rules. This is kind of like playing the victim over a speeding ticket by saying:
    - "well I was only 5 MPH over the limit and just driving the same speed as everyone else"
    - "this is the first time I've ever seen a cop there"
    - "yes there was a sign there saying 55 mph, but I don't have to read it"

I'm not the kind of neighbor to call on anyone, but I'm extremely happy with this new towing rule. We do have some great trails to run on in the neighborhoods, but it is nearly impossible to run on the sidewalks near the town homes without swerving around cars blocking the sidewalks on every street.

As someone else already pointed out, it is also rather annoying to have to roll your stroller into the street, or have your kids ride their bikes in the street, just because someone didn't bother to park properly.

I am sorry that you got hit with this fine and lost the business, but your attitude in this thread demonstrates a lack of respect for the community and it's rules. There are many people out there that think this parking rule is a GREAT thing that won't turn us into a ghetto, but quite the opposite. It will clear out the sidewalks for the safety of our community and children, so they can be used as they were intended - to walk on, not park on.

my apologies... I just read the entire thread for the first time this morning and it struck a cord with me as my wife and I have often talked about how annoyed we are with this issue (cars on sidewalks)
