Anyway...I asked if it was his SALARY or Gross/net income? If its salary..that's a hell of a lot of money to be making at ONE restaurant...I would understand better if its gross/net income...but Salary? Whoa!

he owned more then one restaurant... I think there were 4?

You can make as much as you want when you don't care about it being sustainable :)

I believe he owned 4 restaurants, per a quote in a news article about his case:

Thanks for that tidbit...Didn't know that fact...I live near one of them and thought only one was all that he owned...So looks like 500K seems about right...If I was making that much, I'd be content with that salary...Guess some people want MORE and MORE...like an addict! HA!

I have reason to believe that he'll get out sooner than 12 years...some people should be barred from doing business with banks after getting out of prison after doing some serious fleecing of the banks like this.

Do you REALLY think a bank will want to do business with this guy when he gets out???

He got off pretty easy if you ask me, so my guess is he's going to serve most, if not all of his 12 year sentence:

"He pleaded guilty to three counts of bank fraud and one count of money laundering in U.S. District courts in Alexandria and Ohio. ..... He faces a maximum sentence of 30 years on each of the bank fraud counts and 10 years on the money laundering count."

Well, Here is my take on this: If the banks were that STUPID to take those fake life insurance policies at face value...I am confident to say that there probably will be other banks out there that may fall for the same crap..There are too many banks out there that don't even bother checking out stuff for real. I say this because I work in Finance myself and a few friends of mine are in the banking industry who have told me that there are a lot of stupid people in banks that shouldn't even be working in the banks at all. I believe it.

So, I think some banks in the future may unknowingly or unwittingly may work with him again.

    That's my take on it.

Shows that no one is out of reach of the Fed's arms! Also shows how stupid this woman and husband were. Didn't they both ever think that the Feds would ever catch up to them. Apparently they didn't think so. Now both will be in jail for quite a long time.

She isn't/wasn't 'the wife', she was the ex-wife of a cousin. Seperate cases.

Whups...Didn't know that! Assumed that she was the "wife" of that Restaurant owner as I read into that by Flyinbus' posting.

Oh well, my bad! But why do these people "flee" the US? They think that just because they go to another country, they are unreacheable? I would think that before they commit the crime, that they would check the extradition laws of those countries to see if the crime is worth fleeing the US for? I'm willing to bet she might have $$$$ stashed away in a Swiss vault! (Or Turkish one?!?)

She would have been better off staying in the US. She's been in a Turkish prison for over a year. That couldn't have been fun...
