agreed, they aren't ideal but they are less annoying than sitting at the lights watching all the bad driving manners, and all the accidents waiting to happen.

This has been a GREAT discussion - what fun - and educational too. Now for a hint, and to take down any great expectations. The route involves a short unpaved section, so not so good for Minicoopers or shiny Beemers. Flynnibus comments a couple of pages back is on the right trail. Another clue in a couple of days.

One of those dirt roads near Lyndora Park must connect to Old Ox somewhere...

May not be unpaved for long. There's a sign on Smith Switch that says it will be closed for 60 days (I think) starting on 9/21. That's my go-to route to avoid the Waxpool/LCP mess, so that just sucks.

Do you use Smith Switch to get to LCP South so you can turn left from LCP on to Waxpool??? LCP South to Waxpool is a 4 cycle light at 8AM.

that DOES suck!!! :( 60 days = 240 days... dang it. that's also our route to pick up the boy from TKD.

no worrries- i will try my NEXT back up route tomorrow to see how it works- no Waxpool at ALL but i dunno what the traffic is on it yet

No, I take my daughter to school over on that side of Waxpool. So far this year I've retraced my steps back over unpaved Smith Switch to Waxpool, so when they close it I'll be trapped and forced back onto LCP and through the Waxpool/LCP intersection.

Here is the last hint - and since I do not go to work at a rush hour, I do not mind any and all using this if it works for you. The final hint is a waypoint on your route. See Vacliff's entry #113. There is in fact another bridge, over what I think is Broad Run, although pretty far upstream. And just across the Broad Run bridge is Rosa Lee Carter ES. Old Ox Road can't be far away.

    Good luck - - -

Stoner - first... kudos for you game play.. much more engaging then the previous rounds.

Second.. I figured Loudoun Reserve had to be part of the mix.. based on my post here but didn't call it out by name. That area is new, so I know there is things probably not on the aerial maps. Here, for instance bing is more up to date on the roads even then google.

    So my entry...

You take claiborne to crosen to old ryan rd.. cut across mooreview to LCP.. then take LCP down to the end to evergreen ridge.. to Loundoun Reserve (by the school).. and there is some 'unknown' unpaved path you cut across into that neighborhood/commercial park that dumps onto Old Ox.. then you take Old Ox back up to Rt 28 or west down to Rt 50 if you need.

Probably not bad.. no real obstacles that I can see (except the lights on Old Ox itself) assuming the 'jump' from Loundoun Reserve is legit and not rolling through a backyard or something :)

stoner and flynnibus ... got inspired by your posts and went in search of the elusive connection to Old Ox. I looked for the "obvious" connections and those were either blocked with a chain or large stones.

I did see something like an underpass near Rosa Lee Carter ES ... but couldn't find an entrance as it was getting dark fast (went around 7:45 PM).

I have enclosed a snapshot of Loudoun Reserve and Evergreen Ridge Drive ... appreciate any tidbit ?!?!

I also drove out to Rosa Lee Carter today but couldn't find any cut through...although I did see a dirt road next to the school that was chained off.

to clarify... my last post was 'my entry' to guess what stoner's 'secret' route was... not that I know there is one there or that I use one.

I'm still speculating without getting in the car.. :)

I watched the clock for you today :)

From Turo Parish.. to LCP.. to Waxpool.. to Rt 28.. to Rt 267.. to Wielhe Ave

    31min. 8:15-8:46

And that was with LCP being at it's worst case scenario... being all the way back to Verizon's entrance.. took 9+mins right there.. and Rt28 was stop and go all the way till the Greenway merge. Toll road was in good shape, no backup beyond FCParkway like there often is.

ha!!! STALKER!:scaredhide: do you know what I drive...?

my commute is approx. 20 miles. I took LCP to Rt 7 to 28 to Cville today: 8:18 - 8:52

The line up to go right onto Waxpool WAS backed up to Verizon, as you said, so i went straight across. thru the Waxpool light at 8:28, was on the same section of 28 (as if I had merged from Wapool at 8:36.

So- NOT a time saver, but I did see two different cars cut the line and cause all cars behind their inconsiderate :censored: behavior to jam on brakes, and I- on the other hand, had a stress free sail onto 7.

i was running late today but I have another waxpool free route i want to try tomorrow- I will report back!! :)

Yeah the line cutters fire me up.. I watched SIX from my time at the front of the line on my last cycle. And these were not 'mistakes' - they were people just too good to wait in the line like everyone else. I was right where the turn lane starts and saw 6 before I made it through the light.

This isn't a merge area where it makes more sense to move slowly making the most of two lanes and merge late.. this is purely people TOO $%*&@$% GOOD to wait like everyone else. The two right lanes work great when working together to move over when the turn lane appears. This leaves plenty of space for the center lane to go straight. People need to pay attention and not let these cutters in.

To the selfish :censored: who go in the left lane to cut over into the turn lanes at the light.. I wish nothing but disease, filth, and bad luck on your self centered lives.

I wish there was a swinging pendulum on Rt 28 that whenever someone did that... it would swing down and just slam their car right off the road.

Sit in that traffic every morning and you'll know exactly how he, and many others feel about the folks who pull that stunt.
