DC Restaurant Suggestions

My husband and I are planning to go downtown tonight for dinner and were wondering if anyone had some suggestions on where to eat. Nothing way over the top, just a nice place for a date night dinner. Thanks in advance!

 

Lauriol Plaza is nice. Its Mexican, and very authentic, good, and for DC well priced.

Blue Duck Tavern-- emphasis on farm-to-table and very good. Nice atmosphere too.
Oceanaire Seafood Room-- Great seafood
TenPenh-- Asian fusion food--emphasis on seafood, so good.
Central (Michel Richard)-- New American-French Brasserie, very modern decor/great food
2 Amys--inexpensive awesome wood-fired thin as paper pizzas, go at an off time/always crowded.
Matchbox--fantastic wood-fired pizzas and sliders among other delicious entrees
Charlie Palmers--awesome steaks, view of the Capitol but a splurge
Oyamel--GREAT Mexican and tapas, really excellent guac. made tableside.

Thanks for all of your suggestions! The Texan in me just had to try Chsalas' choice. We had a really fun night. Definitely an eclectic crowd, and in a part of DC neither of us had ever been to. I LOVED the salsa! Probably the best I've ever eaten!! We are looking forward to trying out some of the other choices as the weather gets warmer. Thanks again!

 

As a Texan myself, I was pleased with them too!

 

For the record, I had brunch at Cuba Libre before a Caps' game a couple of weeks ago, and it was unbelievable. $30 all you can eat tapas off of the menu, but the entire table has to order all you can eat. I've heard the dinner reviews aren't great, but the brunch is fantastic!

 

There's a Cuba Libre in DC??? You have no idea how happy that makes me! Their mojitos are addictive! I know where I'll be on Saturday night....

 

If anyone doesn't want to go all the way into DC, I'll throw out a recommendation for Restaurant 3 in Clarendon. My buddy is the head chef there and it was recently featured on a travel channel show. Most food is southern style. I recommend bacon and duck.
