fyi as to the new "mens barber shop" that just opened at the belmont/sycolin intersection -- it is a great upscale place that includes a little neck rub and head massage with old-school grooming. it was a great experience and worth the $30. Jade was excellent and I'd advise requesting her.

Haircut, shampoo, neck shave, scalp massage, neck massage etc. from someone who gives a great cut.

Costs me $20 just for a cut in DC so I don't find it too bad -- and I like to be pampered. This place isn't for the "Fantastic Sams" crowd for sure who want a $16 cut and don't mind a one-eyed cast-away stylist. Don't get me wrong, I'll roll the dice now and again at Sams too, but you get what you pay for.

I usually just go to cheap place, but sometimes I can't risk it, like next month for my sister's wedding, I can't risk a haircut that doesn't look right. How does this place compare to the Grooming Lounge in Tysons? I want to go there, but it's like $130 with tip for a haircut and shave, and that's just too much for me even if they throw in a free drink. $30ish plus tip sounds much more palatable for the times I need a nice haircut.

You get all the same at the babershop next to DD except I wouldn't really classify it as 'massage'. But I really don't goto the babershop to get a massage.. Normally they don't do a shampoo, but I suppose you could request one. For me, I took a shower when I got up, I don't need another shampoo 2hrs later.

Haircut, neck shave, hot towel service for like $16

To each their own I guess...

Where is this barber shop? Seems like a good place, I'm like you don't need a shampoo.

    Thanks

    Mike

It's in the shopping plaza by Cafe Opera/Broadlands Pub/Brickoven Pizza. Waxpool/Truro Parish Rd.
I've been going there since it opened.

My usual guy is off 28 and Waxpool (Sterling side, next to Wings Factory). $16 for cut, hot towel, neck rub and the best part for me - no chatty barber.

Everyone likes to save $$, but I don't think $30 is too high for the fantastic cut I got -- probably the best haircut I've had in a couple of years. Scalp and next massage was also perfect. Um, Jade is easy on the eyes too, which doesn't hurt.

I think everyone can use a little pampering every now and then.

    Thx for the recommendation.

Very true - if my main barber is ever on vacation, I'll try out the new place.

One day - I'll treat myself to a shave at a real barbershop. Perhaps at Rooster.

Royal Barber by Brickoven is fantastic for teh price - just no consistancy to the barbers unless you wait for "Momma."

Today's groupon for NOVA is "$30 for a Club Haircut and Signature Facial Shave at Roosters Men's Grooming Center in Ashburn ($60 Value)".

Maybe you have a different locality set? I didn't see a bike tour listed anywhere.
