    Hi All,
We are moving to Ashburn in a few weeks and I am looking to get my 8 year old registered for summer ballet classes. She has been dancing for 5 years and really enjoys it. So far I have only looked at websites. I am leaning towards Ashburn Academy of Ballet but would love to hear your opinions and experiences. Also, are there any yoga studios in the area?
    Thanks!
    Melissa

we use tutus and tiaras in ashburn village... it's great, but not sure they have classes for that age. my daughter is almost 4. as for yoga, I LOVE Flow Yoga in Leesburg, which is 10-15 minutes from Broadlands.

We love Studio Bleu! My girls (12 and 9) have been dancing there since 2003 (was formerly The Dance Center of Ashburn). If you would like their summer information send me a PM.

Creative Dance Center in Ashburn or Chantilly. Recently voted best dance studio in VA by Dancer Magazine. We have been there 5 years now. Love it!

Thank you! Studio Bleu was the other one I was looking at. I didn't see Creative Dance Center before, but just checked out their website. This is one of the hard parts about moving to a new place, finding stuff. I'm sure I will be starting more threads asking about drs, dentists, salons, etc.
    Thanks!

We switched my daughter from Creative Dance Center to Ashburn Academy of Ballet last fall. I like that AAB works on building a foundation rather than just one dance to perform a the end of the year. Her class didn't even start working on their recital piece until February. At CDC, the whole year was dedicated to learning one routine.

I also did not care for a lot of the routines and costumes at the CDC recital. I thought some of them were too sexed up for the ages performing them. AAB hasn't had their recital yet so I don't know how they compare, but they state in their philosophy that they choose age appropriate costumes and music.

Well, I just signed both my girls up for summer classes at Ashburn Academy of Ballet. The lady I talked to was really nice. I kind of hate to sign up "sight unseen" but I hate to wait so lonbg they miss out.

Thanks! That makes me feel so much better!
Although now I am concerned that I put a "b" in the word "long"

FDC Pinnacle 2011 Top Ten list announced and Studio Bleu and CDC are on the Southeast list. Congrats! There is a World FDC Dance Competition in Dallas in August and Studio Bleu was 1 of only 7 studios in the nation to have received to maximum of 4 invitations to participate! Go Studio Bleu!

Wow, that is impressive. I will have to look into it. We did not commit to a studio for the fall yet.

Summer classes start June 27, with the studio closed the week of the July 4th. Next week just the team classes will be there, but it would be a good time to stop in. July 1 - 6 the team will be participating in a National competition. There are many recreational classes, so you can do as little as as much as you want. Fall probably starts the week school starts, as they schedule 2 weeks of classes just for team members Aug 15 - 26. When we first started going our oldest took a summer class so we could get a feel for the studio without feeling like we had to commit for a long session. And we have been there ever since. Good luck choosing!
