Went to Eggspectation in Leesburg yesterday for the first time. Wasn't worth the 35% price premium over Amphora. They try too hard sometimes and the meals were good, but we felt like there was just too much going on taste-wise. But they have to justify the prices I guess. Two of us had an eggs benedict dish and glass of OJ - $50! Doubt we will go back.

I don't know if they still do it but they have a kids eat free on Mondays thing that we did a couple of times.
On the kids menu they have a steak that is essentially the same size as the adult steak with similar sides--and it's like $6 cheaper. Not that you can order off the kids menu and get it free if you're an adult, but a good choice for an older kid.
So when we go with our kids on a Monday we can usually get away with spending around $25 which isn't bad for a family of four.
I can't/won't eat there any other way because it's just way too pricey. They had a Groupon about a year ago that I took advantage of. Had they not done that I would have never set foot in there.

ExRI - you're not alone with your critique. We went to the one in Centreville once. I thought the place was way over priced for so-so food. Suffice to say we've been once and have never gone back. I'd rather spend the $50 at Clyde's or Lightfoot.

eat at joes. joes cafe just off of church is so inexpensive yet with generous portions and delicious food. I think a benedict is $6.95, with home fries! it's not a fancy place, the focus of on the food.and service. the kind of place you'd see on the diners, dives and drive thrus show.

they have a second second location that's a restaurant with a buffet

Oatmeal at home with coffee is cheaper. I like eggsprctation, ambrosia, lightfoot and clydes, but if I want a cheap breakfast, I'll eat at home, if not I'll splurge! Everyone knows that this area is way overpriced and if I'm not mistaken, weggmans and all those other restaurants fall in the leesburg tax district, so they add on an additional tax for eating their, which is a reason I don't eat in Leesburg much.

I've always enjoyed the Amvrosia breakfast on the weekends... and you're not using gallons of gas to get there either!

I had the banana pancakes at Eggspectation a couple of weeks ago, and they were to die for. Fresh, tender, and bubbly. Best I've had in a while, and worth the price.

Been there once and they have the fluffiest pancakes! Service was great. Watch for a YipDeal -- I bought 2 this time around and it benefits Loudoun High School (I think). $15 gets you $30 worth.

I've only been to Eggspectation about 3 times - twice for breakfast and once for dinner - but I always enjoyed the food. I don't enjoy the prices, but the quality and quantity of food I received was always good.

Agree, Eggspectations stinks. I thought it was supposed to be really good. Went there for breakfast a couple months ago and was very disappointed. One time was enough.

Finnegan's in that same center has a $10 buffet brunch on weekends (maybe just Sunday). We went this weekend and it was good for $10, they had eggs Benedict, made to order egg station, sausage, bacon, corned beef hash, hash browns, a seafood pasta dish, fruit, and some others. You also get $5 off your meal if you sign up for their text message alert thing and a $5 gift card for everyone at the table that also does it.

I tried to go to the Leesburg Eggspectations on Saturday evening, but found that they had closed at 8pm and that they will close at 3pm during the week now. That's disappointing - it must mean business is not doing so well. On Sunday, we went to the Chantilly Eggspectations. I called at 4:00 before going to see if THEY were open until 9, as scheduled. The woman who answered the phone confirmed that they were; however, when we finished eating at about 5:10, we noticed a sign had been added to the door indicating that they were closing at 6:00 that day. Hmmm, I guess I will calll before going from now on!

My mom and I tried to go there for an early lunch around 11:30 last week, and the place was absolutely filthy. The tables were not cleared and there was food/dirt all over the floor. It wasn't even prime lunchtime yet, and there weren't very many people eating. We abruptly turned and walked right back out. I was excited to try it, but not now.

Like so many places around here that look good at first blush - and then you try them once and discover they're a waste of money. Was not impressed and won't go back.
