Nice, classic atmosphere. Boy, there food is sub-average. Not dreadfully terrible, but not actually good. They probably make so much on liquor, they don't hire decent chefs.

Your vague comment adds nothing to this conversation nor should a new topic be created without more description. If you do, don't like Clyde's please explain more. In addition, how do you know what type of chefs they hire? Did you call Clyde's HR and ask to see their employee records? Also, if you had a bad experience, did you ask to speak with a manager? It's so easy to criticize on a message board than to a person's face. That's why Yelp, Gayot, etc. are worthless and these local boards are useful.

All restaurants make their big profits in alcohol. It's common sense. If Clyde's wasn't a nice place to hang-out on a summer night, I sure a heck wouldn't pay $7 for a draft beer.

Go make your own restaurant, hire a decent, smart wait staff, friendly hostesses, expert chefs, quick bussers and good managers and then post needless comments.

Ace posted under the thread "Restaurants, Dining, and Food". It's Ace's opinion so I don't think you added added to the "conversation". Everyone's experience is subjective. Why take it so personally? You obviously have haven't read the other restaurant reviews on this forum. Do you work there? ;)

Calm down there Sparky. The Clydes food at Tyson's, Reston TC, & Old Ebbett is pretty good, so I'd narrow it to this location I've been to there 4x - dry sandwiches & burgers, overcooked veggies, cold fries and a french dip sandwich that had been under the heat lamp so long the juice was dried on the plate. I don't think it's worth my cash.

We've been going to Clydes WCF ever since it opened. Had one dodgy salad once that had a hair in it, mentioned it to the server and they took care of it.

Service is exemplary, food is always good in my experience (although I know they can never seem to get the pasta dishes right), but hey, it's an American restaurant, not Italian.

I personally think it's wonderful to have Clydes in Ashburn - what a great venue for an occasion or just a quick bite out with hubby. We'd go there over Bonefish, which has gotten pricey and inconsistent in recent years.

Appreciate it's not for everyone, but I wouldn't go as far to wholesale condemn the chefs.

I, too, enjoy Clyde's for this very same reason. The interior, with the division of themed rooms, makes for a festive experience. It was beautifully done. I've always compared the Clyde's chain to the more pub-type Chadwick's.

Yes, some dishes are inconsistent, but for the many times I've enjoyed brunch or dinner, i find the gentlemen who manage the 660-seat establishment go above and beyond for their patrons.

Love Clyde's Brunch they offer a real gourmet menu and no cheesy buffet, a sit down meal. Have been for dinner several time and have not been pleased by the food. We continue to return for lunch and brunch. Excellent decorations!

We enjoy Clyde's too. We're going to brunch today for Mother's Day. The service is always great. We have never had a bad meal.

I've always found Clyde's to be a nice atmosphere/decor with food that does not match .... we do love the Clyde's Chili though!

My thoughts exactly! Great atmosphere, though the servers rushed us when we went there...entrees arrived way before we were finished with appetizers.

Everything I had was average at best (and my fish was overcooked). Not even a great selection of beer on tap.

When we are craving Clydes we go to the one in Reston. Food is consistently good there. WCF is beautiful but we find the food and service To be hit or miss.

We really like the Clydes in Tysons and Reston. Both are very consistent and the menus are a bit more to our liking! We don't go to WCF as often as we used to but still enjoy the atmosphere and the food is good.

For us, it's more about the menu at WCF...we either see tons of entrees we want to order (as it changes monthly) or we're ordering a burger and wings because there's nothing that grabs us.

I'll 5th the original sentiment. Especially compared to the Clydes Lodge Tower Oaks in Rockville which is always awesome with great beers, oysters and the rest of the food as well.

I've been eating at Clyde's for 25 years. Back then we only had Tysons... and it was wonderful. It however, has been mediocre food the last few times and more disappointing is that the building is in terrible shape. You can tell that the chain doesn't have any idea what they are going to do with the space after the Metro opens.
Reston- Ahhh.... the dates I went on in Reston in High School... Reston is probably the most consistent of all the Clyde's. It's the only one I've NEVER had a bad meal in.
Tower Oaks in Rockville is Phenomenal and the food is a bit better than Willow Creek... but not by that much. It also suffers from having to serve soooo many people. Clyde's always tries to make things right. If your food isn't good tell them. Mine is usually fine. It's not Firebirds in Leesburg or Blue Ridge Grill in Brambleton... but then again I don't drop $65 on two adults and a kid at Clydes either. My biggest complaint about Willow Creek is that the service is SOOO SLOW. It took 90 minutes last time... and we told them we were just in for a quick dinner. 30 minutes was waiting for the kid's dessert and paying the check.

And the 1/2 price burgers on Saturday are great!
    Just can't afford a beer to go with it. I mean $6.50 for a beer....in Ashburn...really?

Sometimes the quality of the company is worth the price of the beer.
