Everything I can find on the forums are a little dated. We've had ADT since we've moved in 8 years ago but now t's time to upgrade equipment and cancel the outrageous bill we pay every month.

Who do you use and did you have them install the equipment or did you use someone else? Any other words of wisdom? I know I can find some on another thread, so I'm mostly looking for providers.

    Thanks!!!!

We use Astech Security (http://www.astechsecurity.com/) and the servicer is EMERgency 24. The price is VERY reasonable. The installation is much much more than a "door chime". My husband calls our house a fortress. There are no package deals, you only pay for what you really want/need.

The owner of Astech is former CIA. Astech installed security systems in several DC buildings including several of the museums. The company provided us with a full listing and it was impressive.

The installation was quite a bit but we have 2 keypads, glass break detectors, window sensors, door sensors, motion detectors and several new carbon monoxide/fire detectors. Like I said.. more than a "door chime".

I would never get another company to install a system whenever we decide to move.

Whoever you go with, make sure you get get smoke/fire detection. Look at service plans, when your keypad wakes you up with erroneous beeping some random night, you're going to want to have access to 24 hour tech service - not some operator telling you that the service dept opens at 8.

How long have you used them? The "recent news" on their website is from 2005....... Even their applicant form is dated 2004/2005....

I have used Astech for 3 years.

I did not care about their website content as long as the products they use are start-of-the-art.

Astech's client list includes numerous embassies, several museums and a ton of DC non-profits. I cannot recall the names specifically but I do remember that is was quite impressive. I can only imagine the big-wigs in DC did not mind that Astech's website was not updated either.

Not trying to be difficult, but understand my position. You recommend a company that when I go to check out for my security needs I find a web page that hasn't been updated in over 7 years. Their application for new employees is lacking..... Unfortunately, I deal with salesmen all the time and find all their products and past work "impressive", so am just trying to do a little due diligence.

Just looking for stuff like this- http://www.diamondgeeks.com/article5.html
    or this: http://www.sysplan.com/capabilities/security_design/index.html

I couldn't find them on the GSA Schedule, but its a bear to look through so maybe I missed it- http://www.gsaelibrary.gsa.gov/ElibMain/scheduleSummary.do?scheduleNumber=84

    Anyway, I appreciate the recommendation.....
