    Newsletter Opt Out

We are pleased to announce that you now have the option of opting out of hard copies of the monthly newsletter. If you would like to receive electronic copies only of the newsletter, please email OptOut@broadlandshoa.com. You will no longer be mailed a hard copy, but will be emailed a link to the online version.

way to go green to $AVE green!! It's a great idea. I do love the paper newsletter- they do a wonderful job at it and I read it cover to cover almost every month. the covers are beautiful and loads of important info.

But I'll opt out to help save $$$. then we can bring back the fancy poop bags.:partywave:

If you reduce your expenses... profits go up even with the same revenue.

Yes, but don't your have to have a "circulation" number to make it appealing to advertisers? Or will the cost for ad's be prorated based on the number of homes that do not opt out?

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of opting out, saves paper, saves cost, saves energy, etc, but at some point we stand to loose revenue if we don't have the circulation numbers. I would think.

That sounds like those annoying Loudoun/Leesburg newspapers that clutter up the mailboxes. You can try but you will likely fail to get off their mailing list for this exact reason. Their advertising revenue is driven by the number of papers they send out. I would think that in the case of the Broadlands newsletter however that since there is still a delivered electronic copy that they could still be appeasing distribution requirements, assuming there is any to begin with. The opt out request does seem to require an email address to be provided.

They aren't opt'ing out of the newsletter.. simply opt'ing to get an electronic copy instead of paper. The # of copies distributed does not change. Edit: There might be a technicality between what is sent vs available. I would think the board would still be sending the newsletters out.. and not just letting them be 'available' because the newsletter is used as the form of notice by the HOA when notice is required.

There is a cost savings as the association pays for printing and postage for each newsletter that is distributed in hard copy. The only cost associated with the electronic version is the time it takes to send out the email to those who have opted out, which we are working on automating. The circulation number remains the same, as I continue to "push" the link to the electronic copy to all those who have opted out of hard copy.

Wondering if we've considered doing a weekly update, similar to Brambletons Friday Flash, as well? If anyone on the Tech Committee is curious I have a copy I'd be happy to forward along.

Thanks for your work on this!

I'm not positive what the Brambleton Friday Flash is, but we have purchased icontacts so that we can broadcast out email announcements as needed. I am working with the Tech Committee to get it set up.
