I'm looking for recommendations for mole removal (from my face) and would like to hear your suggestions. It's possible I'll need some light plastic surgery too. Who should I go see?

Dr Semler in Lansdowne - not sure if he will give you exactly what you need, but I would generally recomend him.

My dermatologist, who I've seen for years, wouldn't even touch the mole on the side of my face. She told me to see a plastic surgeon from the get-go. I've not yet gotten it removed, but I saw Dr. Naderi (a plastic surgeon, he has an office in Herndon, among other places) about removing it for me. Hope this helps!

Bad experience with Dr. Semler. Went in for a suspicious mole on my back. They didn't get all the abnormal cells the first OR second time. Third time was a charm but I had to repeatedly go back to have stitches removed after each time (with a separate specialist co-pay) and my back now looks like someone put a cigar out on it.

Dr. Todd and Dr. Ha are both great. Dr. Ha refers to Dr. Todd for Moh's surgery. I would recommend either one.

Dr. Ha. We've been seeing him for 10+ years. He's difficult to get an appt. as a new patient but really very good.

allgirl, I have a similar situation as you. The Semler practice recommended seeing a plastic surgeon but they would not give a recommendation, which I found unusual. Did you eventually decide on Dr. Naderi?

Hi, KTdid! I wonder why they wouldn't give you a recommendation? Strange. I never did have Dr. Naderi remove my facial mole - it just wasn't a priority at that time. I asked my dermatologist just a few weeks ago for another recommendation (she hadn't recommended Dr. Naderi) and I now have an appt. with Dr. Parva of Parva Plastic Surgery in Leesburg. My dermatologist had nothing but good things to say about him! Good luck!

I would not want a dermatologist touching someone's face. They can totally scar you and that's not a place you'd want to have a scar. It might seem inconvenient but the plastic surgeon is the better, safer bet. I had a mole removed on my back from one of the above mentioned doctors. It was large and now I have a horrible scare that actually hurts... I wish I had gone to a plastic surgeon... still might go to have one fix the scar that's there now. I guess it doesn't help when both the doctor and I received an electric shock through the cauterizing tool during the procedure.

Dr. Ha will refer any type of surgery to Dr. Todd. My husband has many precancerous spots removed by Dr. Ha, however when he needed something more surgically removed, Dr. Todd performed the surgery. Both Doctors are very excellent, however if you are a new patient, Dr. Ha is extremely difficult to get an appointment with as he is booked out several months.
