There is some work that is being done in the fitness center that was delayed (contractors busy) through the holidays. Once they have completed their work then the process of issuing key tags to gain access and opening will begin.

yes - if you are a resident you will have to purchase a key tag (minimal charge to cover the tag cost) and then access will be available...

Good information, I thought that would be only for the residents of the town homes there.

This is the first I've heard of this. Where is Broadlands Station?

So Broadlands Station is the name for new residential development - I doubt it will open to all residents from Broadlands. Where can we get the official info?

The fitness center will be open to all Broadlands residents who purcahse a key tag (for a nominal fee) to gain entry. Once all the necessary systems are updated the facility will be open. Most likely timing is somewhere near the first of March - we are dependent on the contractors schedules..

I just find it interesting that we have so many gyms in the area and we decided to open our own. I can't wait for the Broadlands Chinese restaurant!!!!

The HOA has been trying to get Verizon off their butts for several months. After being told one thing and waiting, we were told another thing and are currently working through that process. We are totally dependent on Verizon at this point in time but once they get their act together it should be short order to open the facility.

I called the HOA on Friday to get more information on the community center here in Broadlands Station.

It is not open yet and the newsletter will announce the opening for the residents of BROADLANDS (not just Broadlands Station - the townhome community that live in)

Once the announcement is made, residents will have to purchase a key FOB ($20.00-$25.00) for access and will also have to sign a waiver of liability as it is 24 hour access.

I agree with another poster - a gym?? It would have been better use 0f real estate to install a pool or basketball courts, sand volleyball or some other something that would allow the community to socialize more.... an outdoor picnic area with fire pits for summer nights. I can think of about a thousand better uses of the land aside from a community center (which never are used but we all pay for the maintenance) and a "fitness center". I digress.

    Just my two cents.

I see your point but some of the gym prices are also getting out of control around here and this can help residents on a budget. I'm at Lifetime and it is now $110/month for just a single membership ($85 for those that are grandfathered in). I think Gold's now starts at $30 or more. This gym is not going to provide the amenities of those two but could provide a decent place to get a workout in.

Wow! $110 a month? Seriously? I have a membership at Gold's and it is far more reasonable AND they have a 24 hour cardio room and it is a really nice gym. I am happy that there will be some equipment in the new fitness center that I can walk to for summer days/nights when I do not want to drive to the gym but I think one or two pieces of equipment for an entire community of homes seems minimal, at best. I am pretty sure that I will keep my Golds Membership and use the Broadlands Station Fitness Center for days when I cannot get to the gym. I would have loved a picnic area, volleyball or something that could be used more regularly by many people at the same time. It is my Pollyanna perspective on a sense of community. I know..I am so gay like that.

    :)
