Working with a Lender, there appears to be some confusion about the "legal" Property Address:

    Broadlands, VA
    or
    Ashburn, VA

    Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!

We also had this problem a few years ago, and I hate the fact that there is confusion about this.

The USPS website cannot be any more clear about this matter:

Default City Name in ZIP Codeā„¢ 20148
Please use the default city whenever possible.
    ASHBURN VA
Other city names recognized for addresses in 20148
    BRAMBLETON VA
    BROADLANDS VA

Even though Ashburn is preferred, our mortgage company INSISTED on our paperwork saying Broadlands. Ridiculous.

Copy that! We are getting the opposite, Ashburn rather than Broadlands.. despite using the same lender (in 2012) who insisted on Broadlands.

We just used 'Zip+4" and USPS returns with.. Broadlands VA.

    Thanks!

It's all based on what the address verification computers tell them....

Either is acceptable by the USPS.. but the term 'acceptable' is not the same as 'correct' :D

For us.. I found pretty much all the computer validated stuff moved to broadlands years ago.

Yep, I think the whacky part of the exercise with the Lender is either:
    - current mortgage, monthly statements, title, deed, etc are "legally" wrong (Broadlands)
    Or
    - their current address verification is wrong (Ashburn)

"You can still have your mailing address as Broadlands, but on the Declaration page it has to state physical address, with Ashburn as the city."

So we asked where they are getting the physical address from... their title company.

This is what you get when the Developer thinks it would be a good idea to have a postal code named after their development.

Exactly! I have contacted the Commissioner of the Revenue for Loudoun County to provide clarification and I will post the feedback here.

UPDATE on 15 APR: Thanks to Mark @ Loudoun County for confirming use of ZIP+4, so the Property's City is Broadlands.

Hopefully, the Realtors, Lenders, Title Companies, etc. will update accordingly. Property tax bills for this half of the 2016 tax year may have already been printed, so changes will show on future bills.

    Thanks for your responses!
