I checked the deli for the packaged cheese. They were not discounted yet and personnel didn't know, or would not say when they would get marked down. Some, but not all brands of coffee were 30% off.

Myself and other customers specifically asked the cashier this question - it is NOT 30% off everything. She was very clear to tell us it is only certain departments and may change one day to the next. Unless she couldn't relay information given to her by management about how the sale works - this was the messaging relayed to customers at least on the day I went earlier this week.

The space could always be sub-divided. Seems like a great opportunity for an area/community that keeps getting bigger and is in a great location near so many busy roads.

Yes, I relooked at my last two receipts and noticed everything was marked by department, but everything on the receipt was from each department listed, so I received 30% off on everything I bought those two visits.
Now it's time to wait for the discount to go to 40%!

40% on the stuff they don't want to keep in the store or isn't selling it seems.

I hear Aldie is a great store. That maybe something to see.

I don't think it matters. Just about everything is being reduced and many shelves are clearing out fast. Folks pushing carts filled over the rim. Great deals for pantry items and products one uses all the time.

Not originally.. but I'm sure it will move to that eventually.

signs don't dictate the discount... categories did :)

Glad I got my picking on the first day of the 30% sale. The 30% plus the normal SF sales lead to some really great deals on non-perishables I would be buying over time anyways.

What I want to know is when the bakery will shutdown.. or if they will operate to the end.

If you're buying things at Safeway check the dates on products. I was finding lots of out dated products on the shelves.

So our family used Safeway excessively over the past 10+ years, so close to the house. The local alternatives are Harris Teeter and Giant, which one is better on price and quality? Where is everyone else looking to shop at?

Why go anywhere else? This sums it up

Wegman's is my preferred shopping.. but heading out to that shopping center is not always the smartest thing to do... HT in southernwalk is our goto for quick things when we haven't planned a Wegman's trip.

I can't stand the layout of the Leesburg Wegmans.

Wegman's for the bigger shopping expeditions. Better prices than HT or Giant. But Flynnibus is right. On weekends crowded and the traffic in that area is dense. Giant (Ryan Corner) usually my choice for fill-in shopping trips. Harris Teeter has good sales but regular prices seem to be high.

They were doing 50% basically across the board this morning... pulling down all the individual signs

Pretty picked over.. but there are still things to shop through.

    Bakery was shutdown :(

I went by there around 7 pm and saw it was 50% off. There were no carts at all, the parking lot was packed and I've never seen so many people in the store. The lines wrapped all around and down the aisles. It was crazy. I took one look and left. That kind of craziness isn't worth the money saved. As noted above, it did looked picked over.

My wife and I would be pretty excited if a Trader Joe's came in! The closest one is in Reston, which is doable but not on a regular basis.

I've heard someone say that, and I'd be happy with a Publix (or a Trader Joes for that matter) but I'm wondering if there's any public information on this? I've done a search for a press release or other confirmation and can't find anything. Where do you get your information, out of curiosity?
