Looks horrible. Why weren't the streets just fully paved?

Better ask VDOT.....HOA has nothing to do with it.

That is rhetorical, right? If not, it's cheaper.

Do you think you would get a letter from HOA if your driveway looked the way the streets do?

    (Yes - rhetorical)

Patched driveways. No, you would not get a letter.

No Letter. Just a special assessment for connecting pavement patches at a later date.

Don't forget.....the HOA can hold you to a higher standard than the state! :)

Guess I should have been more clear - really referring to all of the tire marks from driving through the new patches. I know they will wash/fade away eventually. But looks pretty bad right now....

I think the real goal here is eventually all of the tire marks will connect from patch to patch and the road will be entirely paved.

Glebe View is a mess and worse than before the patches and there are still cracks and separations on the road surface. Perhaps the goal was to make it rougher to slow traffic down versus properly paving to prevent future road surface degradation.

I just spoke with VDOT - what you see now is the finished product - this "sealer" is supposed to last 5 years or more. VDOT says, "it may not look so good right now, but in a few months it will blend in better"

Great, it's worse now than before the "improvements" were done.

Driving on Village feels like you are driving on an old dirt road in the country. Progress!

Update - After speaking with VDOT yesterday, a VDOT employee actually showed up at my house to explain that they were mistaken when they said it was finished. They still have a top-coat to put down - this one is going to close streets or sections of streets for a couple days

I'm glad they let us know they were topping our street today and that we couldn't pull out of our driveway. :angryfire::censored::censored::censored::angryfire:

Ummmm - we pay "IN" a LOT of $$$$$ and this is the result?

And with the price of Petroleum being so low - wouldn't this be the best time to do a full pavement?

This is VDOT being cheap. I was talking to the guys doing the slurry topping. They were shocked that VDOT was doing it in residential areas like ours. They said it is designed more for rural and country roads. Her suggested the residents let VDOT know what they think.

This road topping is the worst I've ever experienced ever- doesn't surprise me that VDOT is being THAT cheap!

What's the best number to call? I'll let them know what I think - but would be best to know the same number here so everyone can call the same/correct person.
