The Southern Walk HOA Board of Directors have received an update from the Verizon Project Manager.

The first set of homes to receive Verizon service are going to be in the northern section of the Southern Walk (see attachment and reference map with corresponding addresses).

Residents in the Southern Walk can expect all or some portion of the streets listed below (and attached) to activate their service in February or March of 2019, depending on progress of construction.

    Crosswind Terr. 35
    Engleside Pl. 17
    Hawksbury Terr. 25
    Inglewood Ct. 22
    Mapleton Ct. 4
    Ridgeway Dr. 34
    Royal Fern Terr. 23
    Sandhurst Ct. 19
    Schenley Terr. 24
    Sunstone Ct. 27
    Sweet Bay Terr. 16
    Windover Dr. 16
    Windy Oaks Sq. 43
    Grand Total 305

Please do not call Verizon or submit an order online until the Southern Walk Board of Directors releases the special contact information for service orders. There will be a special process for the Southern Walk residents to submit their order.

At this time, road construction to install the FiOS cabling and infrastructure is on-going and dependent on weather, road-blocks, or other unforeseen barriers. Verizon has been granted access to construct within an authorized easement, which generally includes the first 10 feet of residential property from the inside of the sidewalk. Residents on these streets can expect digging, construction equipment, and dirt piles as construction crews make their way through the neighborhood. Additionally, residents on these streets can expect to see utility locator crews, survey crews, and other efforts to properly locate all existing underground utilities before or during construction.

At this time, the Southern Walk Board of Directors is working with Verizon and First Service Residential to coordinate the start-up of Bulk Billing (rate is still TBD, but expect around $85-95 per home, per month) for delivery of the FiOS Broadband 1 GB contracted service to coincide with the activation of FiOS service for these identified homes in the first phase.

Also at this time, Verizon is still deciding which cluster of homes will activate next after this phase, and the estimated delivery window.

The Southern Walk Board of Directors will publish an announcement for their January 2019 Board of Director regular monthly business meeting in a few weeks when facility details are arranged for residents to come and ask questions.

The Southern Walk Board of Directors will make every effort to issue timely communications as further information is provided.

Sincerely, your Southern Walk Board of Directors

Do residents that are not part of phase 1 have to begin paying right away or wait until they actually receive services?

How will Fios connect to an individual house? Will it connect to an existing connection to the house or will Verizon need to dig to each house to install their own line?

I would expect them to use new runs. Honestly that was the least intrusive part of the FIOS install (except for those of you who have invisible fences or sprinklers..).

Everything will be done with new runs to the house. You are supposed to be notified when this will happen and work with Verizon to identify sprinklers, dog fences etc.

I think it can be very intrusive for townhouse owners who have a patio in their backyard and the runs come into the rear of the townhouse.

in your note above you mentioned a price of $85-90 a month, is that for internet, cable and phone or internet only? If its internet only they are advertising on TV for internet only being $35 a month with a 2 year contract, if I remember correctly we are signing a 3 year deal. Did we put our crack negotiators on this?

With a name like that, its hard to tell if you are being serious. There has been a ton of information posted on the Forums answering your questions and in communications from the Board. Do some searching, I think many more questions you are likely to have can be answered. The Gigabit internet is the only required service. The estimated price above is the combined internet and SWHOA fee. For now, we all pay a $25 HOA fee... as internet is activated, that charge will be added ($69)... thus the overall estimate of $85-90. Remember, our internet speed will be close to a 1 Gigabit up and down.

This thread looks more applicable to my question.

I'm trying to make sense of this rollout. We received a letter yesterday stating that Verizon construction commenced in October 2018. The letter also stated that “the first series of 304 homes…will be eligible to order service…February-March 2019.” The letter states that the community has 1,112 homes.

We also received a letter from Openband stating that service will discontinue on June 1, 2019 and that we need to find alternative service prior to that termination date.

According to the SWHOA letter, it took 4 months to do the first 304 homes. Assuming they do about 304 homes every 4 months, it will take about 16 months (from last October) to complete the project. That would mean that the last homes would be complete around next January/February 2020.

Obviously, those homes need some sort of solution before the end of May 2019 (about 8-9 months before Verizon will be installed - according to current pace). We can't go 9 months without service. Can you please explain what the plan is for those who lose service on June 1?

Has there been any information regarding how Verizon will run a new line when there is a patio in the backyard that run the width of the townhouse?

Isn't June 1 just for the TV? There are options available now for that including satellite, ota, and internet for the short term if you want FiOS tv.

Agree with Lost Soul, sounds like Internet will be here for a while longer and hopefully until we all have FIOS but Open Band TV is ending early (probably because less than 1/2 of homes subscribe to it any more). OTA or steaming services for houses that that lose Open Band TV before FiOS TV gets installed. I might go with OTA antenna and add a Hulu Package for 6 months ...

If this applies to you ask to work with the construction crew doing the installation. There are options and the Verizon team has stated they will work with each owner who has obstructions to find a solution.
