To clarify - I guess this is for questions regarding Verizon Fios specific to Southernwalk.

The SWHOA has completed an automated process for reporting damage claims to personal property as a result of the FiOS construction project in Southern Walk.

Please log onto: https://www.swhoab.com/report-damage and fill out the form.

Routine matters like digging through the easement are not reportable. Neither is the painting of utility markings or placing of safety flags on your grass or landscaping. These are safety requirements of Miss Utility.

Things to report: confirmed damage to private sprinkler systems (these generally won't come up until later in the spring time). Suspected damage to electric light poles and associated wiring. Suspected major structural damage to driveways or concrete patios in your backyard.

The Southern Walk Board of Directors is working with Verizon to ensure all repairs are completed and will prioritize handling of repairs with a safety first process. Verizon has indicated a community-wide restoration project will be completed later this spring.

Follow-ups will be made through the Community Management Company, a representative from the SWHOA Board of Directors, or agents/officers from Verizon.

Please don't report these to the Community Management directly, as their focus will be to prepare the community for bulk billing activity ramp-up.

Question (that I don't see elsewhere). Is there an option to KEEP Openband for Internet? If so, what are the 'Yah, buts'?

As I understand it, the answer is "probably not".

To date, Openband hasn't announced that they will discontinue internet service; they have announced that they will discontinue cable as of June 1.

However, if you live in SW, you will have to pay $90/mo to SWHOA for Verizon Gigabit internet. It is anticipated that people won't want to pay for two internet providers and there will not be a business case that will cause Openband to continue to provide service. They did discontinue internet to Lansdowne when Lansdowne went with Comcast; they will probably do the same for SW service.

GOT IT! Thanks. I'm just seeing that we'll pay $90 for internet. Hope it works well! I've had no issues with OB internet, it's pretty fast. But here we go...

As far as speeds actually go...It will likely depend on your device...and limited by any Cat5 wires in your infrastructure. Cat 5e supports gigabit speed and so does Cat 6 and Cat 7. In my patch panel, which I don't know was upgraded or not, since I am not the original owner, there were all Cat 5e wires and a 100/100 8-port switch.

I get 450/450 on my Samsung S10 e. That is almost as fast as technically possible on wifi.

I just traded in a Samsung Galaxy 7 that was getting 300/300. Generally wifi speeds aren't quite as blazing fast as ethernet. The Gigabit literature states that Verizon guarantess 940/880 to the router, but once the signal leaves the router, i.e., to your device, lower speeds are possible. The fastest speeds you are likely to see will come right out of the router, through the ethernet port, on the back of the router to a computer, with the proper gigabit-capable NIC. My older PC has a 100/100 NIC, so I bought a USB adaptor from Amazon that gets me a faster signal, but it is limited by the fact that my USB port is 2.0 and not 3.0.

All in all, compared to OpenBand, this has seemed better, if not MUCH better.

I also acquired a gigabit switch to put in my patch panel and ran a Cat5 E from the back of my Fios router, back to my patch panel through the corresponding media phone port, ran it to the switch, and then sent output broadbasts from the switch back to my ethernet media ports so basically, I have my ethernet ports still active with data.

Thanks so much for this list of channels! I think we will go the same route and just watch TV with our antenna. So far, it is working great for us.
