My family had purchased our pass for the Broadlands fitness center and were really enjoying it right before it was shut down 4 months ago. Now I’m wondering if anyone is working on ways to creatively open it back up? Could we do a sign-up genius to reserve time slots and an online waiver? If we can’t open during Phase 3, when will it ever open back up? I understand that it’s a small space, but it was never really crowded when we went...

Unfortunately we cannot comply with Virginia Forward Phase 3 guidelines, which includes spacing all equipment 10ft apart, screening all patrons before entering the facility, limiting the number of patrons allowed into the facility, and sanitizing equipment between users. The facility is unstaffed and the additional expense of staffing it for use is cost prohibitive. It will likely remain closed until the guidelines are changed or lifted.

Thanks for the response. I don’t know the details of the Governor’s mandate, but it seems like limiting people through a sign-up would be easier than having to distance the equipment.
On a different note, I just want to shout out the young man working the check-in at the Southern Walk Pool. He’s the most enthusiastic, positive guy and a bright spot in all of this! I wish I knew his name but he’s just a ray of sunshine, and hopefully someone can pass this on to him!

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the pool, you may be talking about Micah. Will be sure to pass this along.

I've attached the guidelines downloaded from the Virginia.gov website for your reference. They cover everything from retail businesses to swimming pools to farmers markets.

Since the gyms, restaurants and other places are gradually reopening and more capacity is being added, can the HOA revisit the Gym availability as some of us would like to resume our exercise routines?

    Many thanks!!!

Hi Capricorn. Virginia is still under Phase 3 guidelines, which make it difficult for an unstaffed facility to comply with requirements such as screening members upon entry, limiting capacity, sanitizing equipment between use, and enforcing mask and physical distancing guidelines. We can discuss with the board the viability of making funds available to hire additional staff to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

At some point in the future, people will look back on this era and realize what a huge overreaction this whole thing was. Businesses destroyed and/or expenses to stay in business through the roof, jobs lost, suicides, etc. etc., all for what amounted to a bad flu season. And all the sheep walking around with their silly useless masks virtue signaling their neighbors.

And you never wore a mask (rhetorical) It's just the flu. Careful, Karma will come back to bite you.
