I have to get some work done, that I could do myself, but I simply don't have the time or patience to do it.
Has anyone in the community taken their vehicle to get services, repairs done at this shop yet?
I normally take my cars to Curry's in Dulles, but this place is right down the street, and my car is in "limp" status right now.

I could not find anything on the forum, and thought I'd ask first, any feedback will be appreciated.

I heard that Mario Andretti was there last week.

    Thanks in advance.

I have not taken my car to this specific Virginia Tire and Auto, but I have taken my car to the one on Wax Pool (Same owner). I feel like I am at a car dealership, I am sure the managers work on commission because they were pushing a ton of work, and pretty hard. I ended up taking my car right up the street to Ashburn Service and Tire Center, and I have never taken my cars anywhere else. They have been very trustworthy, do the work correctly, and at a good price. Its the only place I would recommend.

I have taken my car to VA Tire and Auto for state and emissions inspections with no complaints (or upselling). Merchant's Tire always tries to sell me other services.

I went there recently and was impressed with the customer service. the free wifi in the waiting room was a bonus, and it was clean and pleasant!

I took my car to the va tire and auto by ice rink plaza and was very pleased. My husband went in with specific concerns, which were addressed, and my he even heard one of the techs turn down two pieces of customer-suggested work because he felt they weren't needed. That says a lot to me.

I went there initially because the shop was close by, but I really didn't like my experience there and realized that was a huge mistake when I went to Ashburn Service & tire in Ashburn village because my neighbor recommended it(which is only 5 more minutes down the road) - they were better people, did the work really quickly and were much much more reasonable - I also buy my tires there because you get a great package with lots of free stuff!!! I recommend them to anyone - I do not recommend va tire!!

We won't use them for repairs. My sons car needed some work done and their quote was $2400. We took it to a different mechanic who charged us $1800.

We have used Va Tire and Auto in Chantilly for years (starting when they were a Goodyear site) and we have never had any issues with them. They rarely recommend service beyond what we request. They make recommendations, but they do not push anything. We have bought tires from them and recently my husband had a damaged tire that was replaced for the cost of taxes, balancing, etc (around $50) because we had a road hazard plan with them. That was done in about 30 min at the Waxpool site.

I used to take my older car to Ashburn Tire and Auto (customer for at least 7 years) until it took them weeks to find the problem with my car and it turned out to be a major problem where I ended up junking the car. And for all that back and forth to diagnose a big problem that they never fixed they charged me for their time because it took several trips to their shop. They will never get another piece of my business. Why would you charge a customer and I quote "because it took us a long time to diagnose the issue I feel we have to charge you". I have had no issue at all with VA tire and auto by the Ice Rink. The one in Southern Walk looked at my car when a pressure light came on, checked my tire right away so I could make a movie on time - and charged me nothing. They even checked all four tires and put in some air.

I'm not sure why you think they should spend so much time diagnosing your car for free? Especially if you said it was multiple trips. Charging for diagnostics is standard fare.. most just do not charge you if you have the work done. As a courtesy, many will not charge you at all for minor things... because they are trying to build a rapore and relationship with you so you will bring the car back for the big things. You shouldn't take that courtesy and then think 'diagnostics are free'

Imagine if every customer went to the mechanic, got things diagnosed, and then just went home and did the fix themselves or took the car elsewhere.. where would that leave the shop?

I understand what you are saying but it really does not apply here. They started out as a really good shop that became too busy and went down hill.

I probably should have been clearer, but it was a MAJOR thing they repeatedly missed. Every time the warning light came on, I had to immediately take the car in. In talking with other mechanics it was a very easy to diagnosis issue - they were unable to do it in at least 4 times I took my car in. Those four times they had my car for either the whole day or a few days "oh it was this" fixed it and CHARGED me. So every time I brought the car in, it was x. I paid. Then light came back on. Brought car back. Oh it was this. Paid. It was a "known" issue with my make and model which I found out after the fact. What they charged me for the very last time I brought it in was the diagnosis they had to done to finally find the issue. I was pissed by this point because this is something I know they waive occasionally and it really was their fault for missing something fairly major all those previous times - which leads me to wonder if I spent money for items I did not have to. So yes, I do believe it should have been free at that point.

I can't even count the number of times my oil cap was not put back on properly after a simple oil change from them (I would see my car leaking oil, take it in and sure enough cap either not on at all or not on tight).

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has any recent good experiences with VA Tire & Auto in Broadlands/Southern Walk.
I just need to take my 9 year old car for a change oil & it's so convenient to just walk there & come home rather than wait in the shop (esp. with COVID still around).
I usually also ask to have a quick maintenance inspection (tires, windshield washer fluid, etc).

    I appreciate your input. Thanks.

I recommend Fallon Automotive because they are so honest and cheaper than Va Tire- When I asked if I need the Serpentine or timing belt to be replaced- they said it was NOT needed and said they would recommend if it was really needed. I was VERY pleased with their work over Va Tire- their prices are much higher because the rent in that location is outrageous. Fallon is MUCH cheaper due to location and costs!!!

    Fallon gets 5 ⭐️ from me over Va Tire’s 2 ⭐️ !!!

Our experience was a while ago but because of it I'll never go there. We took our car in for an oil change and they forgot to put the oil cap back on the car. Imagine the mess we had to deal with. They pressure washed the engine and replaced the liner but when I got the car home I found tools under the hood. I was told their best mechanic had personally worked on it and the owner/manager was a real jerk about the whole thing like it was our fault.

For years we used the ice rink VA tire and auto but the last time I took my car in they recommended 1k in repairs that were completely unnecessary. Had the car looked at by another mechanic but farther away.

Long story short I'm in the market for a new local mechanic as well lol

I guess I won't go there for a simple oil change. I won't risk a huge mess for the convenience of walking there. Thanks everyone for your input.

I have had nothing but successful work done at the auto shop up in Broadlands Plaza (?). I think the name is Honest something. Can’t compare prices to anywhere else, but never an issue getting the right work done.

    Go to Fallon!!!

I had some minor work done on my car before moving to Florida a couple of months ago. Mike Fallon himself called me about a week ago to make sure the car was operating well and to congratulate me on our move.

When are you going to move back up here?!?!? LOL

I’m sure Mike was depressed that one of his good customers left!! I like using Fallon and will use them again in the future as they are very trustworthy!

Hope you are well down there in Fla and haven’t southernized your accent- Hah!
