    Hey all!

I'm relatively new to the community, and may be this topic was already discussed here, but I didn't find it.
This might sound creasy, but my house shakes almost every night, this usually happens at 12:20-12:30am.
It shakes for 5-7 seconds, then 15 sec. break, and then again 5-7 seconds and then nothing till next night.
Judging from the periodicity and the repeating shaking "pattern" it is not an earthquake and not an accident event.
I suspect there is some kind of a stationary heavy machine in the neighborhood starts at this time of a night.
Does anybody else feel like this? I'm at the Field Station Terrace.

That's very odd. Have you investigated where it's coming from?

Do you live in a TH? Could it be something from your neighbor's house?

If it's not coming from your neighbor then I would park myself outside and wait to see if it is something felt on the ground outside or place my hand on the house and see it you can actually feel a vibration on the exterior. If you do not detect anything then, I would visit the mechanical room and do the same thing. Barring that, what do you do differently at night? Do you set your AC to a different setting from daytime? Are you running the dishwasher or washing machine before bed?

It could be happening throughout the night and you just fall asleep after the 2nd occurrence. You have to do some sleuthing around to figure it out.

    Thank you everyone!
Well I still don't know what it is. I know now it happens 1-2 times a week, not every night.
The 3rd floor of my TH has the highest magnitude of these "shakes", because it is further from the ground.
The frequency the vibrations is about 2Hz.

As to the neighbor's house - it was empty for a couple month, now it is not.
I'll ask them about their washing machine - may be they start it at about this time.

Sometimes an off-balance washing machine can cause loud vibrations during spin cycle because clothes are not distributed evenly in machine or machine itself is not level.

have seen that happen several times-
