Maybe some of you can tell me if you've seen the same thing...

So now we must call comcast for support.. our modems are on the new network.

Because of this, we can no longer access the Adelphia Newsgroup setup (its limited to Adelphia's IP network).

So I call comcast to get the newsgroup setup. They point me to here
    http://www.comcast.net/newsgroups/

They tell me my new username for comcast is same username, just @comcast.net and my password is the same.

Ok.. I goto http://www.comcast.net and can sign in with that user/pass fine, and even access webmail. Great. Hang-up the phone, and goto setup my newsreader.

Fails with an authentication failure. Great.. nothing I can do about that on my own, so call support again.

Girl on the other end obviously has no clue about newsgroups.. and can't even provide the same information about account settings that their own pages say to use. Starts telling me to 'call xnews' buahhaha. So I say well I've setup Outlook Express as well according to YOUR instructions for OE and it doesn't work either (I'm no rookie at support!). Clueless.. 'well wed have to call MS for OE.. ' whatever! So she can't comprehend that I can log into comcast.net but can't log into their outsourced giganews NNTP servers.

So then I'm on the comcast.net website, and none of the 'my account' pages work. They all give an error page (from comcast's side). But I can access webmail fine. It takes me another 15 minutes to convince her 'click link.. returns comcast error'. I even give her my credentials so she finally tries it herself and realizes it doesn't work.

Obviously something this hosed up with my account. Numerous times banging head on wall repeating same steps with the same outcome! So finally she decides she needs to open a ticket for this.. 'someone should start working with this in 24 to 72 hours'. WTF! I spend an hour on the phone with a cluubee just so they can then take up to 3 days to actually look at my problem?

.. and then lets not get started on their cable support as well! Yesterday I tried to change a setting on my 6412 STB on how 4:3 is output from the box. Now I get no channels. Guide is up.. channel guide is working.. but no video or audio from the channels themselves. Power cycle, try changing the setting back.. try analog/digital channels.. all the same. Try hooking up the component output instead of the DVI output I use.. both identical. Obviously something wrong in the box. So I call them up..

Guy quickly decides to try to reset the box. Says this will take 15-30 mins. You should see the box say 'DL' (see this before.. so know just to wait). Wait an hour.. nothing.. never see it happen. Power up the box.. same symptoms. Obviously they either screwed up setting up the command, or just never got to my box (guy never bothered to ask which STB it was, so not sure how they know which is which.. I have two).

So I decide to start tinkering again.. decide to try to play some content from the DVR.. poof! Video and Audio! Sweet. Hit stop.. poof! cable channels are back! Go back and try to duplicate the situation.. every time.. you change the 4:3 override setting, after that.. no A/V until I play something from the DVR. Once I do that.. everything is fine. So obviously a bug in the STB itself.. but Support = Pointless.

can some of you others tell me if you can use the comcast.net 'my account' links? There in the control panel on the right side or in the list of topics down the left side on http://www.comcast.net after you log in (use icon at top of screen)

Anyone else successfully use the new news servers ?

Their webpage says 2gig limit. I forget what we had at adelphia.. anyone remember?

I'm curious about the e-mail changeover. How long do we have to complete the changeover from the time we get the notice, and how long will they forward e-mail sent to our Adelphia addresses.

For comparison, several years ago Comcast bought RoadRunner in Massachusetts. They gave my father 9 months to change his e-mail address (he put it off for 8 months!) and they forwarded e-mails for an additional 3 months.

Currently.. my adelphia email is already forwarding to comcast, but in a copy fashion. Both inboxes are seeing the mail.

    Goto http://www.comcast.net
Click on 'sign in' at the top of the page
If your adelphia email was bob@adelphia.net log in as bob@comcast.net with the same password you used on adelphia
Then click on the mail icons down on the right side of the page to access webmail. You will probably see your adelphia mail.

How long they give you I have no idea. There has been zero communication on details. They said they would send emails about it, but they have not

has anyone had issues with tivo since the switchover? as of yesterday our tivo won't recognize the cable channels. my gut tells me that our tivo is on the blitz, but curious if it might be because of the switchover?

The email I got from Comcast instructing me to change over my Adelphia email account states that they will forward the email until 12/15/07.

Good to hear you got some details JLC. Where did you get the email? In your adelphia.net account I assume?

I just double checked. The information about when the forwarding would stop was sent to my new Comcast account after I had completed the setup.

Congrads Wes. You just solved one of my problems.. something over an hour on the phone with Comcast could not do. After going through that wizard, I can access the 'my account' settings on Comcast.net and I bet when I get home the newsgroups will work too.

Has anybody heard when they are going to "transition" the cable TV service from Adelphia? There was a rumor that it was supposed to happen around January 17, but I haven't heard anything definitive.

It's not there. I think that Comcast also carries the NFL Network.

Just got this in the mail today from Comcast:

    "Dear Valued Customer:

Comcast is pleased to announce the following changes to its High-Definition TV level of service on Tuesday, January 16, 2007:

*iN Demand HD2 (ch. 775) will be replaced with ESPN2 HD.
*HD Net (ch. 770) will be replaced with Discovery HD.
*HD Net Movies (ch. 771) will be replaced with TNT HD.

The following additions will also be made to the Digital Basic level of service:

*Current TV (ch. 150) features topics from fashion and technology, to politics and spirituality.
*FEARnet (ch. 155) The world's premier destination for horro, FEARnet gives fans access to the largest library of horror films in the world, from the vast collections of Sony and Lionsgate.

Comcast values your viewership, and we reaffirm our pledge to bring you the finest quality programming and customer service.

    Thank you for choosing Comcast."

So, it looks like the switch might be happening on the 16th (?). I say, where's the NFL Network?! I'm hoping there are more changes than that!

Is the transition officially completed? We live up on top of the big hill (Glebe View) and we're still Adelphia-everything. My attempts to log in to the Comcast page result in errors telling me that I don't have a valid User Name/Password.

For the record, my xxxx@adelphia.net email works fine, and we haven't had any issues with internet or cable TV. Just curious.

Well, I can log in fine to the Comcast web site, the Interactive Guide and menus all say Comcast now and they've added a lot more VOD. I've also been using my comcast.net email address now for about two months. So, I guess we're pretty much converted. (I'm still waiting on the NFL Network though.)
