I have confirmed that a DD/BR WITH drive-through will be built in the SW Shopping Center! Oh happy day!
It is a different franchise owner than the one we are still waiting for by the Sunoco.

Wow ... two Dunkin Donuts !!

The sheriff deputies will be in heaven !!

But what I can't understand is how DD is allowing two stores in such close proximity to one another. Normally, any franchiser will prevent such a thing from occurring.

maybe SW dunkin man knows the other one will never get built...it's been a year and all we have are a bunch of cinderblocks 6 inches off the ground to create a "foundation".

I was just reading an article in Time that said DD is changing things up a bit. New stores will be like their prototype in Sarasota, much nicer, with wi-fi, serving other foods, and in order to really blanket the planet with DDs, they are requiring franchisees to open 5 stores. It will be interesting to see if these new ones follow that, or if they got their franchises before the new rules set in. Here is a link to the article:

Seems like way too small a site for made on-the-spot donuts. Probably truck ins. Bleh! I can get those at Safeway.

They opened a new store in Tysons (old Pizza Hut Building, by Silver Diner) it has a couple couches, wi-fi, but nothing too special. It will be great to get a coffee in SW before the commute, and another in Tysons when I arrive to work! :mmm:

That one is owned by the same guy that's supposed to build the one by the Sunoco.

Our two year old has recognized the Starbucks logo for quite some time now. We, too, are a family of addicts. Hubby works at the Pentagon and says there's a DD there.

Off-topic, but related to this post--one of my oldest son's first words was "Depot" (for Home Depot). He could recognize the orange sign from a mile away, even before we knew there was a HD anywhere near us.

And, to this day, orange remains his favorite color (he's almost 5 now). Being in the south now, I'm going to have to convince him to steer clear of Tennessee and Clemson and towards UGA (go Dawgs--and in-state tuition!).

Off topic? Yes. But had to share...

Older child went to Home Depot frequently as a toddler. "Home Depot" became "Holy Humpy". We cannot figure out the connection. Same child called Leesburg "Cheesburg" for years.

low blow with the maple ladies comment...although, the caps blew them out 5-1 the other night..which made only one good thing come out of friday's game---->the cup o' joe from the 119.

yes...the ladies fans were abundant in numbers...maybe 35% the other night. if it wasn't for opposing fans, the caps wouldn't have more then 4,000 people there at the games. do people around here even know what Washington has a team?? :) you'd think the starbucks next door might draw some interest to the yuppie brigade.

DD was nice at the Verizon Center, but I was ashamed that I paid $2 for a donut (that's right, one donut) and $3 for a large coffee...

7-1 victory on Sunday was not too shabby - Hat trick for Semin on three consecutive shots

$3 for the large coffee isn't too shabby comparitively, i just paid $2.03 today at a dunks store....so that mark up is almost acceptable, even if it does go into abe polin's pocket. $2 for a donut is nuts...
