What are the small square black plates that are in the road on Waxpool by the apartments and then on the other side of Waxpool after you cross over the Greedway?

My wife and I were just talking about that yesterday!

They're small 1-foot/1-foot black squares, slightly elevated, with bright orange 'nubs' sticking out. They're usually in pairs, offset by about 5-10 feet. They appear to be randomly 'deployed', not really keeping any sort of consistent distance between each set.

We found some on Waxpool behind Verizon also...

Could be, but that would seem like an expensive way to conduct one...

I'm tempted to take a walk with a hammer and chisel one evening this week

Lemme wait for traffic to die down a bit; I don't want to be known as "that moron with the camera on Waxpool who was standing in the middle of the road" :D

Couldn't make it out there tonight; had to deal with some 'troublesome' users trying to register here, and there were a couple things I needed to get done around the house. I'll try to get some pictures Saturday, unless someone else can take some and post them here before then...

    The mystery continues...

They are called stealth pads. They are electronic devices used by the police to measure traffic speed. They will capture info such as speed, time of day, etc. Generally, they are used on roadways on which the police department has received complaints for speeding.

A search on Google for 'stealth pads speeding' has a report from Montgomery County referencing these stealth pads...

Looks like momof2 solved the mystery!!!

    Thanks!

(I'll still get some pictures over the weekend for folks who are curious what they look like)

So, big brother is in the Broadlands? If this leads to few #&^!% drivers, then I will be happy.
