We have a Van Metre SF in the SouthernWalk section of Broadlands. It was built in 2003. Our basement Hot Water Heater does not have a floor drain anywhere need it. In fact we don't have a floor drain in our basement at all. In our old house we had a floor drain directly under the Hot Water Heater overflow tube. Does anyone have a floor drain near their Hot Water Heater? Is this something Van Metre didn't do or is it just something they didn't do in our house? :) It doesn't seem right to not have a drain. If the tank were to overflow where would the water go? My guess is under the door of the utility room and into the finished part of the basement.

Do you have a sump in the basement ?? Our sump and sump pump were right near our water heater.

Why are you heating hot water? Wouldn't you want to heat cold water?

I'm sorry, really, I tried to stop myself but I just would not listen.

KAOS - You know you just couldn't resist!

I don't have an overflow pan under my unit either, nor a sump pump or drain. I wondered why since the my other house had a drain very near the water heater.
