Have you considered or received any requests to expand this forum to include Broadland residents that have a business outside of Loudoun County? My wife and I are Broadland residents but own a business in Fairfax County.

We're keeping the forum to only the local loudoun county area.

    Thanks!

What about now? This is, after all a Broadlands HOA Board.

I manage a golf course in another county, and would like to post a special rate for Broadlands residents, but that appears to be against the rules.

Unfortunately, that is correct. If we don't set a boundary, then our forums will be inundated with advertisements.

You're welcome to advertise in the Broadlands Newsletter which is sent to all Broadlands residents.

Why not restrict it to businesses in Broadlands PLUS businesses represented by Broadlands residents? Opening the advertiser forum up to include businesses represented by Broadlands residents would provide more benefit to the residents, both those with the businesses and those receiving the information/discounts.

How do you prevent shilling and viral markeeting? That would be a pain in the *** to verify.

Honestly, the boundaries don't really make sense. A business within Loudoun County, but without an owner/manager who lives within the Broadlands could post an ad, according to the rules, but businesses owned/managed by Broadlands residents where the physical address is 2 miles (in my case) outside the county are excluded. Why Loudoun County? It should either be Broadlands business only, or open to all, imho.

It makes sense when you have volunteers that don't have the spare cycles to verify each user that posts/wants to post an advertisement for a business.

By setting the boundary as Loudoun County, we're including the core of our users. That's the decision we made and we believe it's the right one. Whatever we decide, there will be people that disagree, and that is your right.

I understand your frustration; as I mentioned to you earlier, you are free to advertise in the Broadlands Newsletter.

Did any homeowners' funds support the creation or maintenance of this site?

Yes, the Technology Committee is given a budget to work with by the HOA Board. The Board also fully supports the Technology Committee, as well as the rules it has in place in regards to the Forums.

I see where you're going with this. Might I suggest you come to the HOA Board meeting Tuesday (September 11) at 5:30PM to further discuss your concerns directly with the Board of Directors, since my answers didn't seem to satisfy you.

At this point, I would like to take this discussion offline.
