Anyone think Gibbs needs to go? Do you think the Patriots ran up the score? I wonder what the local Skins fans are thinking today.

I hardly ever think it is the coach who is the problem. First, the offensive line injuries are a HUGE issue which damn near kills the running game. Second, I still do not know if Campbell is the right QB. I would like to see him tuck it once in a while when under pressure instead of always getting rid of the ball.

And yes, it is fairly obvious that the Pats ran up the score. But hey, if you can't stop em, then so be it.

Running up the score is a ridiculous concept in a game where grown men are playing for multi-millions.

Infact, look at the local high schools, the Dulles District softball high school "Coach of the year" without exception left his ace pitcher in even when beating teams by 27 runs in 5 innings.

I think Brady should have let his backup play the 4th quarter. But I'm sure all those fantasy football owners that have Brady were really pleased. Me, not so much.:(

Totally disagree. When you send in your offense, you send them in to play and execute. Shame on the Redskins defense for not having the skill, preparation and/or heart to actually stop the Patriots. There is one sure way to solve this: stop the offense from making plays.

its not as much about running up the score.. but risks. Every down you play.. you are at risk of injury.

You'd hear for BillB's head if Brady got put down for the season after playing in the 4th with such a huge lead

Agreed with T8erman about the offensive line issues. The Redskins had to be able to run the ball to stay in this game and they obviously couldn't. I don't think that Gibbs necessarily needs to go, but I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves after this year -- the team does need a General Manager, though (not the Vinny Cerato-Dan Snyder-Joe Gibbs triumverate which is currently filling the role). I heard someone on the radio discussing it and I believe it's true -- this team has thrown away draft picks over the years, and those draft picks (if kept) could have been used to build up some depth in key areas (offensive line, defensive backfield).

Um, maybe he noticed that no Redskin was within 10 yards of Brady at any time!

Phillip Daniels did sack Brady once, so yeah, he helped keep the score from getting into the 60s!:rolleyes3:

As a Pats fan I actually feel a bit guilty about how many points they scored and I feel bad for the Redskins because they were so awful. I bet the last thing that the Redskins or their fans want, though, is for others to take pity on them.

On the flip side, if that lopsided score had happened to me (and it has by the way, see, e.g., the 46-10 final score of the Bears-Pats in SuperBowl XX) I wouldn't be made at the other side for running up the score. I'd be made at my own team for letting it happen.

This isn't MLB where a team with a $200 million payroll can beat up on one with a $20 million payroll. The salary cap in the NFL means that team salaries are generally pretty comparable (and I don't have the figures but I'd guess the Redskins' payroll is among the league's highest). Lopsided scores like Sunday's shouldn't happen, especially to a team with playoff/SuperBowl aspirations of its own.

especially for a team who's defense was supposed to be their strong point :)

IMO - The Redskins haven't really played well since he took ownership. I have always loved Joe Gibbs as the coach for the Skins and was sad when he left the team, but very elated when he returned. I thought - Finally - we've got the best coach returning! I admire him, but have wondered lately if his heart is really into it. I also wonder if Snyder give him full control and has to micro-manage. Just food for thought!

Gibbs doesn't seem to have the passion or the spark he had before. I think saying that the Skins would be the biggest underdog in the history of sports vs the Patriots really inspired the team a lot and gave them confidence! His play calling--even when they were down by 35 points--was still so conservative it defies explanation. He looked dumbfounded on the sidelines Sunday, as he often does now. They have weapons, they don't use them.

Why? Because he tries to win every year?

Because he's arrogant and is only interested in the bottom line. I won't be suprised if Gibbs decides this is his last year with the Redskins and hangs it up.

As is just about every other owner. And for someone who is so interested in the bottom line, why does he spend so much every year in an attempt to win?

Give me an owner who cares and tries every year to WIN versus an owner who is just interested in making a buck.

Well - something is wrong....whether it's the coaches or the owner...whatever they're doing - it's not working. Sometimes you can spend too much money and get these players who are really only in it for themselves and the money the make. I support two NFL teams, the Redskins and the Buffalo Bills (we won't talk about them). However - I now watch and enjoy more college football than the NFL. That's where you have players that truly enjoy the game and play as a team

I understand that football is a team game, but your Pats are fortunate enough to have a QB in Brady who might go down as the best of all-time (and his greatness is magnified by the lack of quality QB's in this league -- other than Brady and Manning, what QB in this league is worth mentioning ? An aging Favre ? Maybe Romo, though every time I think he is really good he throws in a clunker). I honestly believe that if the Skins play the Pats and you switch QB's, the Skins win the game (not by 52-7, but I believe that they win). What do you think ?
