I know it's not really in the Broadlands, but I wondered if anyone knew what the deal is with the barriers next to the church on Waxpool? There's a stop sign as you are going down Waxpool and then (if you are going from Broadlands towards the ice rink) you make a right, there's the barriers on the left. It's been like that for several years. At first I thought that it was just for church traffic, but there is no evidence that traffic has been through that way.

Anyone know why it's still barricaded? Or why they put that stupid jog in the road to begin with? The road used to be straight years ago. It's so annoying now.

It is going to stay that way until VM finishes it's section by the gravel rd and perhaps even Longer.

The the other section people want to speed on will be under construction soon and will take a year or two depending on how long moving the utilities take which are going to be put into a tunnel they plan to build.

Another words that whole section of road from the broadlands to verizon is going to get much worse when the construction starts for a long long time.

And if we don't get some parallel roads to the greenway to 28 and 606 traffic will come to a standstill in the near future. Making todays rush hour look like a ride in the park.

No one ever stops (including me) because there's no traffic coming from the other direction!!

I was just thinking, maybe they're leaving it that way until the Dunkin Donuts gets built! :rolleyes3:

That whole area is a total traffic nightmare. I can't believe we have put up with it for so long. I try to avoid Waxpool whenever possible. Why can't they finish Shellhorn - what could possibly be taking so long?

The funny thing is once that new section opens, you will have to take a left off of Waxpool to stay on Waxpool (and that's not the only location where that happens). It's crazy!

I never did see the point in shifting it over. It used to be straight from before the kink starts to the stop sign. :screwy:

Re: Question about Waxpool Rd. -more developement?

We heard from a neighbor they are building a bunch of townhomes along Waxpool Road just past the little league field. From the signs, there is a hearing about this next Monday Nov. 19th at 6 PM in Leesburg. Noticed it the other day posted along that road, but it doesn't say much. Does anyone know more about this new development? We were sad to hear they'd be doing even more construction in this area as we kind of like the old part of Waxpool Road. The other aspect is that all that construction run off goes along a stream right into the reservoir. Just curious if any one is more familiar? There is also another construction that may be already approved called the Reserve at Waxpool. The townhomes would seem to create a bunch of traffic on that road near the ball field... We guess they are trying to get this project pushed through in 2007. Just curious of other peoples thoughts on these new townhomes nearby. We're not opposed to people getting a home in the area as we love it, but we are saddened by the natural look that keeps being developed. Comments?

That is a sloppy eyesore area. Sad for those homeowners who look out their windows and see bright orange road barricades for years. Hopefully it will be resloved and fixed up in the near future?

I think yes. The covering kept blowing off. It was replaced a few times, then finally blew off for good and was never replaced.

Re: Question about Waxpool Rd. -more developement?

Get used to it. Other sections of Waxpool along there already have approved developments that have not been started yet. Eventually, expect to see the whole stretch developed all the way to Belmont Ridge. It's inevitable.

Does anyone know what that newly-constructed building is on the corner of Waxpool and Shellhorn (the weird 4-way stop)? Right past the part of Waxpool that is blocked off.

Well I am not sure but that piece of bad design looks more like low rent office.
