After taking the Redskins and the 17 points against New England (I still owe you that beer Silence), I have learned my lesson. As much as it pains me to say, I think a similar result awaits the Skins this weekend in Dallas (Dallas might not put up 52 points, but I am expecting a 20 - 30 point loss). Dallas looks very good, and the Redskins continue to sputter. There is a good piece by Tom Boswell in the Post today for anyone who is interested -- he expresses what I think many Skins fans are feeling today.

This is exemplary of what is wrong with the Redskins:

Defensive end Phillip Daniels said. "But there's no need to panic. Beat Dallas, be 6-4, be fine."

What world is he living in??? Chris Samuels had a similar quote about the New England game, where he thouqht the skins were going to win. I can't believe these guys think they're better than they are at this point. Forget their record, they are basically a 3-6 team right now. They just got lucky sometimes.

That said, they showed something the first 55 minutes of the game on Sunday. But they seemed to lose it when Thrash went down.

Lee, I can't tell you how much it pains me to watch this guy Tony Romo. He has had some shaky moments, but overall he looks like he is going to be great and will haunt the Redskins for years to come. I'm going to have to find something else to do on Fall/Winter Sunday afternoons -- maybe I'll take up flex-building designing :D

I'm pretty sure that he meant to say Redskins, but maybe he has some inside info on the outcome of the game.

I believe Romo was money well spent by the cowboys. But 65 million plus???? well that is for another thread. And MadCato7 you are right he does has his shaky moments but I attribute that because he is still fairly
young and inexperienced, but that is changing every game.

Flex design my good buddy go for it they need all the help they can get ha ha ha:)

Should Samuels have said, "I know we're going to get our butts kicked, but if we don't play, we don't get a paycheck."?

I grew up in New Orleans and quickly learned to despise the Cowboys. Being a Saints fan was hard enough and the Cowboys just seemed to own the Saints in the 70's and 80's. Then I moved to Houston where it seemed there was no such thing as indifference to the Cowboys. You either loved them or you hated them. Obviously it's easy to dislike them here as well. I'm fairly indifferent to the Redskins but I'll pull for them against the Cowboys.

The Cowboys are like ND, you either love them or you hate them. I remember at one point ND was both the most loved and most hated program in the country.

I wonder if there is any correlation between Cowboy and ND lovers/haters, ie, if you hate one are you more likely to either love or hate the other?

And no matter their records, we still are forced to watch them every Saturday or Sunday because they are 'America's Teams". :eww:

I did get great pleasure seeing Air Force wreck ND this weekend right after Navy beat them last week.

I remember all the hype when Snyder brought in Gibbs. While most pundits and fans were predicting a Redskins Superbowl victory within a couple of seasons, there were one or two voices out there saying that basically Snyder went "all-in" with the Gibbs hiring, and that he had nothing left if it failed (i.e., you couldn't make a bigger splash than Gibbs). They also said that if it failed Snyder, in addition to ruining the team during his tenure, would have also ruined Gibbs' "god-like" image and tarnished his hall-of-fame legacy.

It seems like these dire predictions have come to pass. I admittedly (and obviously) didn't grow up as a Skins fan, but in the 3+ years I've been watching Gibbs I've seen nothing from him that warrants his place on the pedestal to which many had placed him prior to the comeback.

    Do Redskins fans agree?

ND does have it's own TV deal with NBC to broadcast all their home games.

I didn't think the Skins would even make the playoffs the first year and possibly the second when Gibbs came back. Did I think that he would eventually return them to the playoffs? Absolutely. Did I think that they would win a Super Bowl within 5 years (length of Gibbs' contract)? It wouldn't have surprised me, but I honestly didn't think it would happen.

You're absolutely right in that there has been nothing in the last few years to warrant Gibbs' God-like stature, but back in the 80's there sure was. Let me put it to you this way my Patriots friend...let's say this is Belichick's last year coaching and he retires. After he retires, the Patriots make the playoffs 3-4 times over the next 15 years, never really challenging to make it to the Super Bowl. Brady retires after Dwight Freeney breaks his leg during a sack (no I'm not saying Joe T. is Brady, just work with me). The team loses all chemistry it had and there is no longer Vrabel, Bruschi, or any of the other players that won all those Super Bowls. Then, out of nowhere, in 2023, Belichick comes out of retirement and wants to coach the team again. How would fans of the Patriots react? Would they still feel the same way about him if he has 3 losing seasons?
