Tressel was busy putting on his sweater-vest and missed the fumble.

Not one argument there! Illinois played a great game.

No, I do not blame OSU loss on this one play. Illinois outplayed them a good part of the game. BUT, who is to say what would have happened. OSU up by 14 instead of 7 may have changed Zook's gameplan. Maybe they throw a pick trying to get back in the game quicker. It is unfortunate that the play did not get reviewed and I applaud Tressel for not making an issue out of it... That is what us fans are for! :D

Another interesting weekend of college football. #1 LSU has fallen already (sorry, GeauxTigers!) and #2 Kansas is struggling against Mizzou.

This would seemingly propel West Virginia and Mizzou into the top spots--who saw that coming?!

:partydance2: Although going up against BC for the championship worries me. A lot.

My money would be on Oklahoma beating Missouri, landing OSU back to in the Championship game. T8's dream come true!!

Mizzou D looked real good for 3 quarters lasy night. They will need 4 against Oklahoma. And if I remember correctly, they actually were beating OK for most of the game when the played earlier in the year.

It was not a good weekend to be an LSU fan. Oh well. Hopefully they at least make the Sugar Bowl.

Was this the weekend of "Stupid Football Tricks"? I only watched parts of a couple games, but from what I'm hearing most of the coaches were on some hallucinagenic this weekend.

Congrats to Hokies fans! Nice, solid win.

And to GeauxTigers as well--looks like Les Miles is staying at LSU.

Definitely! Now all we need is that approval for a bowl game in DC next year, with Navy playing in it! Would make Christmas shopping for hubby so much easier.

I think it will be a good thing having Miles stay. I was in a downtown Atlanta bar yesterday for lunch when the false ESPN report came out. The neighboring Tennessee fans cheered with some even singing the Michigan fight song (no clue how or why they knew it) which seemed a bit uncool but soon enough the report was reversed. In any case it looks the analysts want another SEC-Big10 match for the title, which is fine by me. I guess we'll know the answer to that at 8pm.

Ohio State will not have played since November 17th...that's a break of over 6 weeks, which I think is a joke. And it will be over 4 weeks for LSU.

I'd love to see a playoff with 8 teams playing next week...4 the following week and then the top 2 on New Year's. My guess is that OSU will be glad they aren't playing a hot team like USC.

I understand that the Big10 teams have a longer break than most other conferences and perhaps that may give a disadvantage, however why don't they simply slide their schedules to overlap with the rest of the country? It's not a victim of circumstances thing as the conference could change it. The conference championship weekend shouldn't play a factor (in time between season and bowls) either as the Pac10 and BigEast don't have championships yet their teams still played this weekend.

With respect to playoffs I could go either way. I like the traditional bowl system and don't really think there is absolute need to have a clear cut "who is #1". I do think an 8 team playoff system would simply make the schedule too long, especially considering the conference championships. Perhaps doing away with those would help. Why not a 4 team playoff with #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3 on Jan 1 and then the winners on Jan 7? I think this would work. Surely you'll still have the #5 team complaining as we do currently with the #3, but at least in my mind the top four teams in most any season (maybe not this one) would clearly have the best team within.

I agree. The Big 10 hurts their teams by finishing so early, and that's their own fault. Can you tell I'm not a Big 10 guy?!

I'm cool with a 4 team playoff, that would probably be a more reasonable compromise. Yeah, this year it would be tough to name your Top 4. VA Tech is lurking at #5 and USC at #6.

Yep, in a 4 team playoff, VT would be right in there!
