I missed the Florida-Michigan and Tennessee-Wisconsin games, but the results would seem to indicate that the Big 10 (at least at the top) is on fairly even footing with the SEC (and if so, I apologize for bashing the Big 10 earlier in the season). If true, hopefully this will result in a competitive BCS Title Game. Any thoughts ?

I think it should be a great game. Pits two teams with different strengths from two very different conferences. Ohio State has something to prove after last year's disappointing showing so I hope it goes down to the wire like USC-Texas a couple year's back.

While there have been a couple good games, there are simply too many Bowl games and bad match-ups. When teams like Maryland and those with losing records are in Bowl games, we reward mediocrity and devalue them. And then we get stuck with Georgia and USC blowing out overrated opponents. I'd love to see Georgia and USC play.

Les Miles was interviewed and said that he and the other SEC coaches do not percieve much of a difference between the conferences as far as strength of teams and overall play. It is pretty much the fans and talking-heads that harp on the "speed" factor.

I think it will be a very competitive game. I do not think it will be a high scoring affair as both defenses can be dominant. Both ARE fast too.

I can see the Buckeyes winning a close game when Miles makes a very risky play call that finally goes against him! :D

Oh, yeah! You say "O-H" and I'll answer with "I-O!"

I could move back to Columbus in a heartbeat, too. Not at all like when I graduated from OSU in 1974, singing "Hello Life, Goodbye Columbus." What was I thinking!!?? Life is HARD!

    Go Bucks!!

I have ordered and am awaiting my authentic #33 scarlet Ohio State jersey. The game is going too be a good one and my Buckeyes will win.

I also agree with the overall quality of bowl games this year. When there are spots for half of the D1 teams, that's ridiculous. Quite honestly, since there will never be a playoff, I would love to see it go back to way it was with all conference tie ins and official invites.

I'm a huge Buckeye fan, but have never lived in Ohio. My dad went to Michigan and I became a fan as an excuse to bust his chops growing up. It's now become a family wide rivalry - I, my wife, an both kids received great Ohio State garb for the holidays (go to www.ebuckeye.com for cool stuff). I'll be sporting my Troy Smith jersey on Monday night.

As for the game, my expectations are actually pretty low. I'm a still scarred from our 2006 choke displays in both football and basketball. Just hoping for a competitive game. As far as I'm concerned, the important game occurred the last week of the regular season. The championship is gravy.

    Go Buckeyes!

It's a shame that the Rose Bowl insisted on the Big 10 tie-in this year. A Georgia-USC Rose Bowl would have been really interesting. BTW, anyone else surprised with how West Virginia manhandled Oklahoma last night ? When the Mountaineer offense is clicking, they are really tough to stop.

I have been seeking any sort of pattern from the bowl results and can't come up with anything. I thought Missouri's hammering of Arkansas and Michigan beating Florida might be an indicator that a) the SEC isn't as good as a lot of us thought (this may still prove to be true) and b) that the Big 12 was better than I thought, but then Oklahoma just gets pushed around on both sides of the ball by a West Virginia team which many thought would be in disarray after the Rodriguez departure. I expect Virginia Tech to handle Kansas tonight and still expect a tight game between LSU and OSU.

Maybe it wasn't so much of an issue of the Rose Bowl insisting on a Big Ten tie-in so much as the Sugar Bowl insisting on keeping their typical SEC tie-in. This is the same as last year when Florida vacated the Sugar Bowl tie-in by going to the title game, leaving the next highest ranked SEC team to the Sugar. That game was just as as lopsided as the Sugar bowl was this year (41-14).

GeauxTigers, you are probably right. I heard one of the talking-heads saying that the Rose could have taken Georgia and assumed that this was an option.

Would it make sense for the Bowls to rotate every year, but just have #1 v. #2, #3 v. #4, #5 v #6 through the Top 10 regardless of Conference?

I know that bucks tradition, but hopefully we'd get more interesting match-ups and closer games.

Bowls are just about money. Until they break that (and they won't) you won't see what would make sense... just more BS.

I used to love all the stats about 'and this is so-so's 10th time in the rose bowl' comparing to someone who's never been... well the other team is a pac-10 team.. DUH.

Just continue to pray that they will do away with this garbage bowl system where all you need is a .500 record to make a bowl... that means nothing except to the school's pocketbooks from being paid to play... and they work out a playoff system.

Just think.. after seeing how WVU dominated last night - don't you think it would be interesting to see if thats a fluke or if it really could continue to steam roll, etc.

I saw at least one team (Nevada) that had a losing record getting steamrolled in a bowl game. My alma mater, Maryland, was in a bowl game and should never be rewarded like that. Mediocre teams make for mediocre games.

Would love to see GA, USC, WVU, VA Tech play another game to see just how good they really are. If we could squeeze just one more game for each team at the end of the year, I assume that would make a lot more money. As it is, I tune out most of the bowls because they are essentially meaningless.

This was a WVU team that some (Sports Illustrated) had #1 in the preseason

You must be really hyped for the International Bowl (in Toronto) this Saturday -- Rutgers vs. Ball State.

GeauxTigers is exactly right -- in order for the Rose Bowl to select Georgia (the next best SEC pick after LSU), the Sugar Bowl would have had to relent to giving up that SEC bowl tie-in. That wasn't going to happen.

The thing to remember about the Rose Bowl is that it is almost a separate entity in the BCS -- included but separate. The Rose came on the scene a few years after (1996 I believe) the Bowl Coalition was formed when undefeated Penn State was denied a MNC as they were contractually obligated to play in the Rose vs. Oregon instead of playing undefeated Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. The Rose Bowl finally saw the light, and joined the new BCS. However, the Rose Bowl has its own contract with ABC to air the game as opposed to all the other BCS bowls on Fox. Also, the PAC10 and Big 10 each have reps actually serving ON the Rose Bowl selection committee.

Oh yeah, as a fan of a different Big Ten team, I'll play the conference unity card and say GO BUCKS!! :)

Ditto here. But the only record worse than Michigan against Tressel (0-4) is OSU versus the SEC (0-8)!! But I'm hoping!
