I know this is a stupid question but I gotta ask. How does one change a lightbulb for a two story foyer Chandelier? We got two bulbs out. I can't use a ladder because the Chandelier isn't near a wall. And I don't have a bi-fold ladder high enough. What to do?

Could you get one of the extendable sticks from Lowes or Home Depot, with special attachments on the end designed to grip and remove/insert light bulbs? If I recall one of the attachments bends to get at bulbs that aren't hanging down.
I have seen them in the lighting aisles at both stores....

(Edit: OK, bad link, Giraffe sells systems that are QUITE a bit cheaper, and not motorized... but you see what I mean.)

a flying buttress! or perhaps one of those articulated ladders that will allow the ladder to stand off the wall by 4' or so. I am in the same predicament in my foyer, I'll let you know how I do it =)

that really sounds like a stupid design, sorry just had to say... but could you possibly put a picture. I am curious how this is situated. Maybe we can get more ideas with a picture.

actually, alot of homes have a second story foyer chandelier. I'm just not sure how to access it for cleaning or changing lightbulbs.

We have a 2-story foyer and I was able to reach our chandelier with a regular ladder. I have a 24' and the higher up you can get it, the better.

When ours blows a bulb, which it has yet to do, I plan to stand at the top of the stairs, pull it over to me and do it that way. Maybe yours is situated differently... what model of house do you have?

So...when we were adding in our options 4 years ago, out of the blue (and really, I don't know why I ever thought of this) I asked if they had something like a lift for the chandelier! The sales lady didn't know but it was in the back few pages! So I turn a key on a wall in our LR and the motor starts up the winch lets the chandelier down to almost the floor. It is up in the attic attached to something in front of the HVAC unit. You could look at installing one, which would possibly have some drywall work to have done. My drywall guy did a fab job for us when we had a new outlet put near the stairs on the second level (to PLUG IN lights when doing the railings at XMAS!) and we had to relocate the wires to a different outlet in our front guest room to make the switch turn a lamp on by the bed.

For remodel stuff, we also removed our linen closet in the master bath to allow kaosdad's closet to be larger and look just like mine! Ronald did a great job, you cannot tell a door was ever there and now I have a real size towel bar (24") on a wall, instead of a tiny one behind a door! No big deal losing that closet, we have ample space in our cabinets, and the walk in linen closet in the hall is plenty big.

    Hey Pam!

Well the light bulbs get dusty, but if you don't use the chandelier then you cannot see it:) as you know we bought new chandeliers for the dining room and foyer, so I do like to have it on at night - but did install a dimmer on it!
