It seems to me that quite a few restaurants in the area have been relatively empty lately. I know the holidays will slow business down some, especially during the week but some of "our" favorite haunts seem empty quite a bit of the time, even on the weekends.

I know that one of our frequented places, Anothai, had a very slow month. When we go there, Callaloo and American Flatbread are also sparse.

I would hate to see some of Broadlands favorite places close due to lack of support, So go out and eat every now and then people. Or at least do carry-out!

AGREED!! I do hope that this board and other resources that plug the locally owner restaurants in town continue to build clientele for the great non-chain businesses in Ashburn.

OK - I'll admit to being a few sheets to the wind at the moment (SO SUE ME - I have a bar in the basement!!!) but here's an idea -

What about a "Broadlands Pub Crawl". We ( the faithful, inebriated (sp?) and hungry) Start at point A (I'm thinking Calaloo on the first friday of the month) and end up at, oh, say, Starbucks by Safeway by about 0130. It's all within walking (stumbling, dragging, crawling) distance and could be a heck of a lot of fun.

Cold??? What cold? Give me another Mojito!!!!!!

KAOS! I knew I had man love for you for a reason! Well, honestly, the thought of REAL man love makes me :sickhurl: (not that there is anything...) :D

Perhaps we will do that for the February HH.

(I know, I know, there has been no word on the Jan HH yet.)

    T8ter! You are a scream!

Yes Calaloo is great the first Friday of the month, with a two-man steel drum band performing. makes you feel like you are back in the Caribbean. Lorna is a dab cook and uber friendly!

Koas and I have decided to get out of the rut of ordering in and once a week try out a different local restaurant. It's fun and turns the couch potato factor down a bit.

I think the pub crawl needs its own thread. I'll make one in Broadlands events.

But it is a shame that a lot of restaurants are empty. Oversaturation and a bad economy will do that.

Lee, you a hasher? I have a friend who did it when we lived in Alexandria and had a blast . I'm interested in learning about any local club. Feel free to respond on a new thread, as this is way :offtopic:.
