I don't get why all this investment is going to Huntsville, AL - I mean I understand the with BRAC the area will experience some kind of boom but with the money here in the Dulles Corridor - we don't get any of these new innovative ideas. They have so many kid friendly things in Huntsville and cool upscale evening things to do. Of course, you may have to deal with a tornado or two but we get those here too!

Bridge Street Town Centre - beautiful!

Wow! Truely an inventive use of space. I think it has a lot to do with how people move to a different time in the South...than we do up here. You know, Ssowing way down to enjoy life, scenery and the people, rather than rushing around all the time, getting snarled in traffic, cutting people off, etc...Thnaks for showing us what possibilites exist elsewhere.

Yeah Maureen..,guess you didn't know Norhthern VA would be such a "North" part of the state! South really begins with Richmond...When I moved to VA with my family in 1979 from Illinois, it was the same then, too.

Before I left my job to be a stay at home mom - I had weekly business trips (for 2+ years) down to Huntsville - mainly at the Marshall Flight Space/Center and I was amazed with the amenities - ei parks, thoughtful planned neighborhoods etc.

Breakfast at the Waffle House I was surrounded by probably the smartest people on earth and almost every time we went I would notice someone who looked like they should have been in the deliverance movie. Talk about a wide spectrum or just cruel irony.

    thepea2001 and others--

You are right about Richmond and further South idea. When we relocated up to Northern VA--I thought I was in the North.:happygrin: We love living in the Northern VA area; but still miss the Southern simplicity of living. If there is such a thing--there is saying--I don't know if it means for food or not or how we talk with a Southern accent--"more south in my mouth". ;)

Of course, the Atlanta region and outlying areas, are growing too. Bad traffic as well with no trains in sight. Waffle Houses are in Northern VA areas--Frederickburg, VA and further south or in Frederick, MD. Great place for a late night breakfast after being up all night. Remember it well from my college days.
    Those were the days--

Growing up in NoVa since the late 60's, Fredricksburg was NOT part of NoVa at the time. :D

We are actually moving to Huntsville in April. It was fun to see a post on the board talking about the area!

Any suggestions on where to buy? We are going down the last week of Feb. to shop.

    :)
