Okay I did a search - but didnt come up with what I was looking for.

I want to put in one of those checkboard flooring systems in the garage. Does anybody have reccomendations for do-it-yourself projects or for a good company that isnt super expensive.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

If you are a member check Costco... last time I was there I looked at the black and white checkered flooring tiles they had and it seemed like a good approach. They also had this roll of some kind of floor covering, I think a PVC material that seemed decent too.

Personally, I am leaning toward the paint epoxy approach and a good place to look at this product is at Home Depot. They also advertise local contractors to do it for you... and I think the typical 2-car garage would be $2000... but that is a guess.

But do a quick search on the internet and you will see a bunch of helpful pictures.

I've done the painting before and it only protects the floor for a few months before it starts to wear at the tire spots. I'm looking to put the tile flooring down as well and I've found a few places that sell patterns that I like. I personally think the paint on floors are a waste of time from my previous experience with it. Plus with the tile you don't have to wait a week before you can drive on it. :)

I actually put indoor out door carpet in my garage and it is somewhat cheap looks good great and easy on the feet :) and if you buy the right refrigerator that is color coordinated from one of your fellow forumer's it looks spectacular. ;) Seriously if your cars do not leak the carpet route works real well and cheap. Besides you can have bragging rights you have a carpeted garage just for the fun of it. :)

I painted the floor, a single coat and it worked real well..... No issues at all - the paint was about $75 and it took about 2 hours to clean the floor and then paint.....

Costco has the tiles for $69 per box right now. The net price for these same boxes from Moto is $129 per box plus S&H. I bought the Costco ones and will install it myself.

The paint on the floor will only work properly if you clean the floor of all dust and dirt, then etch it with phosphoric acid, then paint over it with a primer, and then finally utilize two coats of the paint on top.

If you'd like the best job done for a great price, give me a call at 703.542.6398. The gentleman that helped me build out my store may be available in a couple of weeks - he's honest, and does truly amazing work.

Has anyone used anyone to epoxy (paint) their garage floor? Looks like the supplies alone will be $200 from Home Depot and then 1 - 2 days of work....

We just re-carpeted our offices and 2-3 guys took the old carpet home for their garages. Saved us alot in fees and they can vacume their garages now!

Thanks for the info. I contacted them and looks to be between $6-7 a sq/ft, so I guess I'll be doing it myself or maybe just skip it all together.
