This post is long overdue. We are often on the road for two weeks at a time, conducting Workshops at schools and churches across the country, so we have an opportunity to see so many different neighborhoods.

When we come home and drive back into Broadlands, we are so grateful. This is an extraordinarily beautiful community. Walk it sometime and you'll notice the flowers, the lush green grass, the great trails, friendly people walking with mates or their pups.

We have not just one, but several pools to choose from, whether you want one for younger kids with fun fountains or a larger one with a slide and diving board.

We also have a group of people who volunteer tremendous amounts of their own personal time to make this a great community. So thank you!

While my trips away from home are not as long as yours at one time, I always feel the same way when I get back into town.

    I wholeheartedly (and unbiasedly) agree.
There's a reason why so many homes in Broadlands are continuing to sell while other areas are still languishing.
Many people thing I am nuts for doing what I do, but I do it because I am proud of the community I live in.

Overall, Broadlands is one of the best communities we have lived in...and there have been many moves over the years. Kudos to our great neighbors!

i've dediated a large portion of my life to pointing out how wonderful it is to live here!

it's easy to forget you're blessed when your day is enhanced by walking on manicured paths, when your neighbors pitch in to help you without being asked, when you can post a need a have it filled instantly- this community DEFINES community, and a great one at that. one could say... it passes with Flying Colors!!! lol

Yes, what I can say for sure that is a beatuful planned community, there are others in states around us, but if you don't see them you don't know they are there. Nature is very evident here...that's all I can say.

We moved to Broadlands during Winter'07, and started to wonder why the community didn't look nearly as good as it was during June/July-2007 timeframe when we were shopping for homes in/around Broadlands. The past few weeks once the blooming period began this place started getting it's true life back!

The pathways are wonderful and we have some excellent folks who VOLUNTEER their time inspite of their busy schedules! Just a shout-out of THANKS to ALL who help maintain this place and to the rest of the folks who support their neighbors in this wonderful community!

Yes The broadlands is a fabulous place. Although in my business we travel a lot or used to a lot more. ;) And there are some incredible planned pud's and small cities all over the world and some very very large. The problem with Loudoun especially when you have seen what can be done in other places is the transition between uses which is getting worse by the day. Eastern Loudoun could end up a little bit like Houston beautiful Pud's connected by trash architecture. Even the trees here remind me of Houston. Actually the stuff being done here is what Houston used to do and is extremely evident in Houston. But in many of the new suburbs of Houston they have stopped much of the horrible transitions surrounding the puds which they need to learn here beofore it is too late. First the pud's you live in have been planned by by serious professionals with a serious track record of success. And many of the the newer puds are planned even better with no chance of a hospital across existing residential. The problem with the areas outside the puds much of it it is planned or influenced by our BOS and their non professional citizen planners. Yes Loudoun has some so called paid planners but from what I have seen their scope and vision coupled with the citizen input is not near as good as in our Puds especially some of the new ones designed by world class planners before the public and citizens get involved or live there.

I am curious how you all solve this which has turned into a major hate campaign with this home based daycare business. I have ideas from what I have seen done in other puds around this country how to possibly resolve it as a win win but I it is non of my business so I have stayed out of it. :) I hope the fringes of the broadlands stay as nice has the broadlands itself such as where the hospital is to be built which should be re sited as what has been told to us and the park extened to belmont then you might have """" The Broadlands Regional Medical Center In The Park"""""""" instead of the towering towers encroaching on the residential, like a science fiction movie. ;-)

Lee, thanks for taking a positive post about our community and bringing up your problems with it and also pointing out communities that are better. Also kudo's for attempting to spread your hospital diatribe into this thread as well as bringing up the day care.

Celebrate Calm, yes this is a great community!

    Lee, here is a thought...

Worry about the Regency and flex buildings and leave Broadlands to those of us who live here.

T8 I am way ahead of you my friend as I have designed a residential style office commercial complex for the vacant land directly across from our main entrance with media rooms like a theater for presentations and lectures and many many other cool ideas so the people that work there will feel like they have arrived. Now all we have to see if the county has the foresight about true win win transition between residential and commercial. :):):)

Lee, you have once again hijacked a thread that was meant to serve as an antidote to all the negativity you bring to every other discussion. So let's get back to Broadlanders praising Broadlands and the volunteers who serve here.

That means no more posts on this thread, Lee. Thank you.

ahem, Calm - you cannot control Lee, just your reaction to Lee... you are giving him WAY too much power...

sorry, couldn't resist, but I did enjoy your seminar that I attended - and your methods have been helpful in my household!

Lee, you are very free-spirited, good-natured, and concerned about our land beyond our lifetime. I think that's cool. I don't always agree with your opinions, but I definitely respect the underlying theme of all of your posts, and that is keeping architecture beautiful. Sometimes when I start to think of the grand scheme of things I get a little sick in my stomach thinking about all of the trash and ugly structures we are filling our earth with- and how I am so caught up in suburbia. I have to make sure I keep focused on the human relationships we establish and try to make things right for humankind in the future as well as now. In the immortal words of the dinosaur in Toy Story "Now I have guilt!". Ack. I need to recycle more. I need to feed my children on my dreams (CSNY reference)! I need to...work out!! (I'll go recycle my ice cream cartons now...)

Sunny anybody that loves to play in dirt is my kind of people:):):):) your quote """"""""I need to feed my children on my dreams"""""""" What a wonderful thing to say because when we do that our children dreams they take what dreams we feed them to grow into their own dreams and far beyond :):):):):) enjoy your precious little ones because they grow up fast then they drive :devil2: Or they can be like mine who I believe they will never leave home, but that is OK at least I know where they are :):):):):)

In the spirit of magnanimity, I would be thrilled to rename this thread: Lee Makes Broadlands a GREAT Community!

Because, after all, no matter what any thread is supposed to be about, it's really all about Lee and whatever he wants it to be about. And anyone who has that much charisma and strength of spirit deserves to be honored.

So here's to Lee! Even though he doesn't live in Broadlands, he has enriched our lives, and made us thankful for the ones we do live with. Broadlands just wouldn't be the same without Lee. As they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em :)

The platform is all yours now, my friend.
