As of 6:45am, the line at AT&T by Wegman's is about 50 people deep...

My son arrived there around 6:20. When we finally got in the store they were out of black 16G. He has one on order and I got a white 16 G.

Activation isn't working so they let me take it home to activate here, and so far no success.

How do you like the white? I haven't seen it in person yet.

Turns out if I had stuck around, I would have been the first person in line NOT to get an iPhone (according to the person who was behind me). Glad I left and didn't waste another 2 1/2 hours.

My husband and I went out to Tyson's last night for dinner with the intent of going to the Apple store to actually "buy a laptop" for our son's birthday on Tuesday. We got there at 8:30 PM and the line was all the way to Bloomies. The lady told us they were open until 11. When we inquired about purchasing the computer we were told they were only "doing" iPhones purchases that day. I understand the big rush to get the phone, but gesh, we actually wanted to spend some real cash and we were turned away. Not quite sure how I'm feeling about that:rolleyes3: I understand that we picked a bad night, but.......

I like the white iPhone. It reminds me of the original iPod and iBook. It's a classy white.

I went to the Tyson's Apple store on Sunday to get a case for it. They had a long line (not down to Bloomies, but it had at least 150 people in it) for iPhones, but they did let you in the store if you said you wanted something else. All I had to do was wave my iPhone at them and they understood and let me in. I ended up not getting a case and I ordered one online last night. I wanted one of the Sena Elega holsters and it turns out there is a subtle difference between the holsters for the original iPhone and the 3G. Something about speaker hole placement. The Apple store reps were very upfront about it.

The App Store has a lot of great apps. Super Monkey Ball is amazing, and so is WeatherBug!

My biggest complaint about the iPhone is the lack of UI consistency between apps. For example, the method for adding objects to a list differs greatly from app to app. Isn't there a developer's style guide that they have to follow, just like app developers do for the Mac OS?

I applied the 2.0 software and it un-bricked the phone :)boogie:). Get to the app store and get Shazam! It's free for a limited time. Can't describe it, it's just cool. Look under music.

Wow... Shazam is amazing. My son and I just spent 20 minutes trying various songs, including some non-mainstream songs. It recognized all but one song (The Washington Post March by John Phillips Sousa). We hit it with modern rock/pop, jazz, 60s oldies, and even "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" (The Andrews Sisters, 1941). How do they do that?

Shazam is sweet! I just tested it with some old AFI songs and it worked perfectly....

Check out Where, a good app...Aurora Feint looks pretty cool for a free game...

Has anyone looked at developing for it? I got some ideas, but no development skills... : (

Thanks for the approval! lol...I've also been testing it with Motley and various hair metal bands...

On another note, has anyone that upgraded the 1st gen to the 2.0 software noticed the iPhone running alot slower? It's rebooting on me and locking up...standby time is a lot shorter too....

It stopped rebooting on me....but the standby time has shrunk...I wonder if the apps are still running in the background draining it...

I accept your challenge! I haven't seen any networked mult iplayer games yet, should be some soon coming with 3G I would think...

Check your wireless settings (wifi); I thought I read somewhere that the default setting is to keep scanning for networks. Make sure that the Wi-Fi Network setting labeled "Ask to Join Networks" is turned OFF. Only disadvantage to this is that "If no known networks are available, you will have to manually select a network." Doesn't bother me on my Touch; I don't want my Touch connecting to unknown wireless networks... Many people have reported that doing this will make a considerable difference in battery drain...

Try it and let us know.

Yeah, typically I'll have the search for Wifi off when I'm outside of the house our work...but it's draining more so on stand by now than ever....

This last time, I added a ton of new free apps via iTunes with a full charge...played around with a couple of them, then left the phone alone overnight on the desk....when I woke up, had the red bar battery indicator...

I'm wondering if some of the crappy free apps still run somehow after closing them in the background draining the battery....
