Does anyone have info on Lake Anna? We've never been before, but are wondering if there is a town that you can walk to? What are the types of activities there? I'd appreciate any info you can provide...Thanks!

It's been a while since I went there with my family, but we always went to Christopher Run Campground. We had a trailer there, but there was plenty of camping sites available too. There's a park there as well as a lake front access swimming area (they had a thing in the water that you could jump off of), boat access, store, and a big barn type of thing where they would hold dances. Again, this was years ago, but as a kid it was a lot of fun.

I don't know what's there as far as towns, but it's relatively close to Kings Dominion (obviously drive there). Louisa's not far either, but nothing worth writing home about. They've built up a lot around there so there may be something more now.

so you have a beautiful greenish glow to you after swimming! I found that advantageous at night when I forgot my flashlight.

The lake is very large so it certainly depends on which side and where you are staying. That being said, there really is'nt anything around. We have a family house on the private side. The only thing anywhere close is a Shell gas station for quicky items. There is a "General store" as you get close to the lake, but that is probably a half hour from the house. You really have to head toward Fredricksburg...to find any place to eat, shop etc. If you are going just make sure you take everything you need. My husband's family has been going for years. Me, I'm not crazy about the idea of the water cooling the nuclear power plant. They have not turned green yet, but I am not taking a chance.

well.. the lake was CREATED for the power plant - so its not like the plant took the water, it made the lake :)

Besides... cooling loop of a plant is totally separate from the 'hot' side of the plant. Never going to be a concern unless there is a break

Is that why home prices there are fairly low compared to other lake homes?
